  1. 1. Heterogeneous catalytic reactions studied with transient gas supply and event-averaged ambient pressure x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/NanoLund: Center for Nanoscience

    Author : Qianhui Liu; [2022]
    Keywords : Ambient pressure x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; Event-averaging; Pd 100 surface structure oscillation; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : CO oxidation over Pd(100) is studied with ambient pressure x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (APXPS). Cyclic gas composition pulsing of the CO:O2 ratio, combined with a new method using software based event-averaging by image recognition over many pulses, is used to improve the signal-to-noise ratio substantially. 2. 2. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy on Clusters: From Water Clusters to Metal & Metal-Oxide Nanoparticles

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Emmanouil Tzomos; [2021]
    Keywords : Nanoscience; Nanoparticles; Clusters; Synchrotron Radiation; Water Particles; Silver Particles; Silver Oxides; Ethylene Epoxidation; Radiotherapy; PES; XPS; Lund University; FlexPES; MAX IV; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In the present work, two experimental setups aimed at the production of (1) water clusters and (2) metal-oxide nanoparticles were assembled and commissioned. The experiments on the cluster/nanoparticle beams were set up and performed at the FlexPES beamline of the MAX-IV synchrotron facility. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biofilm growth on super-acidic metal-oxide films

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Linnéa Jansson; [2021]
    Keywords : Biofilm; nanoteknik; ureas;

    Abstract : In nature, urea is hydrolyzed to ammonia and bicarbonate primarily by enzymes called ureases. As urine waste contains multiple important plant nutrients, there is interest in the waste treatment field to use urine waste products as plant fertilizers. READ MORE

  4. 4. Detailed Balance in Quantum Dot Tunneling

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Martin Plate; [2021]
    Keywords : thermodynamics; quantum dot; quantum tunneling; physics; solid state physics; nanoscience; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Previously recorded data of electron tunneling in and out of a quantum dot (QD) is used to extract knowledge of the state of the system. Using the detailed balance of the system, it is shown that information about the electron temperature in the lead Te, as well as knowledge about the degeneracies of the states in a quantum dot can be obtained from measurements of the tunneling rates in and out of the QD. 5. 5. Investigation of Resistive Random Access Memory for 1T1R Nanowire Array Integration

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Orestes Theodoridis; [2020]
    Keywords : RRAM; Nanowire; Memory Technology; Nanoelectronics; Nanoscience; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : As modern electronics have started to reach its physical scaling limits, novel architectures and physics is needed to meet future demands. Oxide-based Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM) is a new emerging technology that uses filament formation and rupture in thin oxides to generate resistive switching. READ MORE
