  1. 1. The effect of model calibration on noisy label detection

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Max Joel Söderberg; [2023]
    Keywords : Area Under the Margin; Calibration; Image classification; Label smoothing; Noisy labels; Overconfidence; Area under marginalen; Kalibrering; Bildklassificering; Etikettutjämning; Brusiga etiketter; Övertro;

    Abstract : The advances in deep neural networks in recent years have opened up the possibility of using image classification as a valuable tool in various areas, such as medical diagnosis from x-ray images. However, training deep neural networks requires large amounts of annotated data which has to be labelled manually, by a person. READ MORE

  2. 2. Data-driven Discovery of Real-time Road Compaction Parameters

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Yuqi Shao; [2022]
    Keywords : statistics; machine learning; road compaction; statistik; maskininlärning; vägpackning;

    Abstract : Road compaction is the last and important stage in road construction. Both under-compaction and over-compaction are inappropriate and may lead to road failures. Intelligent compactors has enabled data gathering and edge computing functionalities, which introduces possibilities in data-driven compaction control. READ MORE

  3. 3. Non-fungible tokens: tracing shifts in the art market

    Abstract : Given the advent and market boom of NFTs, this thesis concerns itself with observing how NFTs are shifting the art market, and how those shifts can be explained, as the two seemingly disparate markets have different actors, processes and characteristics. In order to answer these questions the thesis takes an abductive case study design and employs an actor-network theory (ANT) approach to observe shifts in the markets by both human and non-human actors. Abstract : Bringing together current research strands stemming from the Festinger tradition of failed prophecy, and by observing a recent case of a prophetic group dealing with disconfirming events under a period of 210 days, I theorize on what roles cognitive dissonance, rituals and continuous prophetic adaptation play in the management of prophetic groups’ alternative world views. The traditional conception of dissonance management is reinterpreted as a process of maximizing mental desirability, which is contingent on the level of cognitive dissonance as well as cognitive activity.
