  1. 1. Temporal evolution of historic mafic lavas from Fogo, Cape Verde

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Erik Magnusson; [2016]
    Keywords : Cape Verde; Fogo; temporal evolution; igneous petrology; oxygen isotopes; Kap Verde; Fogo; tidsmässig utveckling; magmatisk petrologi; syreisotoper;

    Abstract : The volcanic Island of Fogo that is situated near the end of the southern island chain in the archipelago of Cape Verde is one of the most active oceanic volcanoes in the world. The purpose of this study was to investigate temporal variations in lavas from Fogo by using whole rock major and trace elements and describe trends in magmatic differentiation, melting systematics and mantle source compositions. 2. 2. Study of opaque phases in carbonatites of the Grønnedal-Íka alkaline complex, Southwest Greenland

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Author : Eemu Ranta; [2015]
    Keywords : carbonatite; opaque phases; oxides; magnetite; hydrothermal fluids; Grønnedal-Íka; Greenland;

    Abstract : Opaque phases from carbonatites of the Grønnedal-Íka alkaline complex (1299±17 Ma) of Southwest Greenland were analyzed in terms of their mineralogy and microstructure. The analysis demonstrates that a later intrusion by a 55 m wide dolerite dyke of unknown age has prompted the mineralization of magnetite by activating hydrothermal fluid convection. READ MORE

  3. 3. An Experimental Study of Fibre SuspensionFlows in Pipes using Nuclear MagneticResonance Imaging

    University essay from KTH/Mekanik

    Author : Masato Hirota; [2013]
    Keywords : Fibre suspension; Multi-phase flow; Nuclear magnetic resonance;

    Abstract : This study deals with fibre suspension flows through cylindrical pipes. Thepresent work aims at measurements of opaque flows, which are common inindustries. Nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (NMRI) and ultrasound velocimetryprofiling (UVP) were employed as non-invasive and optic-independenttools to measure the velocity profiles. READ MORE

  4. 4. A geochemical characterization of the lower part of the Miocene shield-building lavas on Gran Canaria

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Romina Peetz; [2009]
    Keywords : Gran Canaria; shield-building lavas; Güigüi Formation; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Ocean islands offer a great potential to provide information about mantle processes and the composition of the mantle. Gran Canaria is located in the centre of the Canary Island Archipelago and is well suited for such studies. A comprehensive study of the lower Miocene shield-building lavas is performed for this thesis. READ MORE

  5. 5. The mineral composition of the Burkland Cu-sulphide deposit at Zinkgruvan, Sweden : a supplementary study

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Christine Andersen; [2009]
    Keywords : Zinkgruvan; Bergslagen; Åmmeberg-deposit; Burkland Cu-mineralisation; chalcopyrite; hydrothermalcopper sulphide; VMS; SEDEX copper sulphide; SEDEX; Åmmeberg-malmförekomst; Burkland kopparmineralisering; kopparkis; hydrotermal kopparsulfid; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The Zinkgruvan Mining AB, situated in south-central Sweden in Örebro County, south-east of Åmmeberg, plans to expand their production on a massive, carbonate hosted copper-sulphide ore deposit, the Burkland Cu-mineralization in the eastern part of Knalla. At present mainly Zn-Pb-Ag are mined. READ MORE
