  1. 1. Optical Communication using Nanowires and Molecular Memory Systems

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik

    Author : Thomas Kjellberg Jensen; [2024]
    Keywords : neuromorphic computing; nanowire; molecular dye; DASA photoswitch; OBIC; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Neuromorphic computational networks, inspired by biological neural networks, provide a possible way of lowering computational energy cost, while at the same time allowing for much more sophisticated devices capable of real-time inferences and learning. Since simulating artificial neural networks on conventional computers is particularly inefficient, the development of neuromorphic devices is strongly motivated as the reliance on AI-models increases. 2. 2. Quantum Optical Description of High-order Harmonic Generation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Isabel Moreno; [2024]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : High-order Harmonic Generation (HHG) is a highly non-linear process in which an atom interacts with a strong laser field. The laser field lowers the atomic potential barrier allowing bound electrons to escape into the continuum through tunnel ionization, propagate, and, with some probability, recombine with the parent ion. 3. 3. Glauber Monte Carlo for proton-proton and virtual-photon-proton collisions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Oscar Sepp; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In high energy physics, we want to probe the inner structures and behaviours of the particles that are the building blocks of our universe. This is often done by colliding nuclei together. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 5. 5. Evaluation of hardware and firmware for a Data Readout system of the PANDA Electro-Magnetic Calorimeter

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för informationsteknologi

    Author : Ehsan Noorzaei; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : PANDA is the next generation hadron physics detector under construction at the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) in Darmstadt, Germany to accurately detect and parameterize events with kinetic energies from 1MeV to 8GeV. PANDA is a 4π detector and due to its unique shape, all the readout electronics from ADC modules, power supplies, and a controller unit is housed in liquid-cooled crates mounted inside the detector.
