  1. 1. Investigation of Antenna Radomes in Low Earth Orbits

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Mathias Manohar Gren; [2023]
    Keywords : Materials; Science; Space; Satellites; Antenna Radomes; Beyond Gravity; Coatings; Physics; Chemistry; Low Earth Orbits; Engineering; Lunds University; Materials Chemistry; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Introduction: This master’s thesis focuses on exploring improved alternative material solutions for antenna radomes used to protect Beyond Gravity Sweden’s satellite antennas in low Earth orbits. Background: As the environment in low Earth orbit is harsh, surface materials on satellites experience high levels of atomic oxygen, ultra violet radiation, thermal-fluctuation, charged particles and micro meteoroids. 2. 2. Analysis of degradation of melamine and polyurethane paint systems using different characterization methods. An investigation of automotive paints on trucks

    University essay from KTH/Fiber- och polymerteknologi

    Author : Oscar Sångberg; [2022]
    Keywords : Paint; degradation; analysis; melamine; polyurethane; Färg; nedbrytning; analys; melamin; polyuretan;

    Abstract : Sammanfattning på svenska: Billacker är exponerade för solljus och nederbörd under hela lackens livslängd. Lacker behöver motstå faktorer i omgivningen som påverkar nedbrytningen för att leva upp till högt ställda visuella krav. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development of a Method to Predict the Adhesion of Industrial Paint Coating

    University essay from KTH/Fiber- och polymerteknologi

    Author : Akheen Sadik; [2022]
    Keywords : Contact angle technique; optical tensiometer; paint coating; adhesion promoter; silane; kontaktvinkel; optisk tensiometer; ytbehandling; adhesion; silan;

    Abstract : I samarbete med Sherwin-Williams AB, utvecklades en metod med kontaktvinkelmätning för att teoretiskt uppskatta vätbarhet och vidhäftningsförmåga av industriella färger på stålsubstrat. Optisk tensiometer och Youngs ekvation kombinerat med OWRK beräkningsmodell användes för att bestämma ytenergier. READ MORE

  4. 4. Short wavelength UV–LED photoinitiated radical polymerization of acrylate–based coating systems—A comparison with conventional UV curing.

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Strukturkemi

    Author : Olof Torfgård; [2021]
    Keywords : UV; LED; UVC; UVB; UVA; paint; acrylate; curing; Sherwin–Williams; ATR-FTIR; spectroradiometer; photoinitiator; the mercury arc lamp;

    Abstract : The present work was performed at Sherwin–Williams Sweden group AB with the objective of comparing short-wavelength light emitting diodes (UVB/UVC) with the conventional mercury arc lamp as a curing method of acrylate-based, UV-paint undergoing free-radical polymerization when exposed to UV-radiation. Due to environmental and health risks, mercury-doped radiation sources will be phased out in the near future, according to the United Nations Minamata convention, hence new alternatives are needed.
