11. Moving in the dark : Mathematics of complex pedestrian flows
University essay from Karlstads universitet/Fakulteten för hälsa, natur- och teknikvetenskap (from 2013)Abstract : The field of mathematical modelling for pedestrian dynamics has attracted significant scientific attention, with various models proposed from perspectives such as kinetic theory, statistical mechanics, game theory and partial differential equations. Often such investigations are seen as being a part of a new branch of study in the domain of applied physics, called sociophysics. READ MORE

12. Antenna Options for High Altitude IMT Base Stations (HIBS) in Cellular Networks
University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknikAbstract : This thesis is the result of a collaboration between Ericsson AB and Luleå University of Technology. A feasibility study has been conducted to investigate antenna options for the HIBS access link. The study contains two parts. Firstly, a link budget investigating the gain required from the antenna. 13. Effects of solar parabolic- trough collectors in small- scale district heating systems
University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för byggd miljö och energiteknik (BET)Abstract : Reducing carbon emissions in our societies requires a massive shift towards renewables. In Sweden, biomass is the dominant source for the district heat production, but growing demand for biomass in other sectors may cause pressure on it. READ MORE

14. Solar Energy and its Potential in Rural Botswana : a solution-driven qualitative field study with supplementary secondary research
University essay from KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)Abstract : Solar energy is of huge interest due to the current situation with global warming. A number of solar technologies have been developed, such as photovoltaic, concentrated solar power, and solar water heating systems, to name a few. READ MORE

15. Homogenization of an elliptic transmission system modeling the flux of oxygen from blood vessels to tissues
University essay fromAbstract : Motivated by the study of the hypoxia problem in cancerous tissues, we propose a system of coupled partial differential equations defined on a heterogeneous, periodically perforated domain describing the flux of oxygen from blood vessels towards the tissue and the corresponding oxygen diffusion within the tissue. Using heuristics based on dimensional analysis, we rephrase the initially parabolic problem as a semi-linear elliptic transmission problem. READ MORE
