    Abstract : Does an increase in childcare availability reduce the gender pay gap? I contribute to answering this question by investigating the effect of a childcare expansion in 2003 in Switzerland on the gender pay gap and hourly pay of men and women. For this purpose, I use administrative data from the Swiss Labour Force Survey (SAKE) on the employment of permanent residents of Switzerland and data on the number of childcare places in different cantons of Switzerland collected by Ravazzini, Delphine, and Suter (2016).
