  1. 1. Analysis of degradation of melamine and polyurethane paint systems using different characterization methods. An investigation of automotive paints on trucks

    University essay from KTH/Fiber- och polymerteknologi

    Author : Oscar Sångberg; [2022]
    Keywords : Paint; degradation; analysis; melamine; polyurethane; Färg; nedbrytning; analys; melamin; polyuretan;

    Abstract : Sammanfattning på svenska: Billacker är exponerade för solljus och nederbörd under hela lackens livslängd. Lacker behöver motstå faktorer i omgivningen som påverkar nedbrytningen för att leva upp till högt ställda visuella krav. READ MORE

  2. 2. Polymer Aging Mechanics : An investigation on a Thermoset Polymer used in the Exterior Structure of a Heavy-duty Vehicle

    University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för skog och träteknik (SOT)

    Author : Basil Abu-Ragheef; [2019]
    Keywords : polyDicyclopentadiene; aging; thermosets; fatigue; mechanical properties; thermal fatigue; digital image correlation; viscoelasticity; polymer degradation; thermo-oxidation; photo-oxidation;

    Abstract : The use of plastic materials in the design of vehicle components is primarily driven by the need for vehicle weight and cost reduction. Additionally, these materials give design engineers freedom in creating appealing exterior designs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Validation of Biomarkers for the Revision of the CEN/TR 15522-2:2012 Method : A Statistical Study of Sampling, Discriminating Powers and Weathering of new Biomarkers for Comparative Analysis of Lighter Oils

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Kemi

    Author : Robert Lundberg; [2019]
    Keywords : Oil fingerprinting; forensic; validation; GC-MS; oil spill sampling; diagnostic power; correlation; weathering; diesel; crude oil; biomarker;

    Abstract : The revision of the CEN/TR 15522-2:2012 methodology contains new biomarkers to facilitate forensic fingerprinting of the variety of oil types that can be a part of different crimes and the purpose of this project is to validate the biomarkers of the new methodology. Biomarkers were validated by examining corresponding diagnostic ratios compatibility with the internationally used sampling cloth, discriminating power, correlation and simulated weathering sensibility through GC-SIM-MS analysis followed by statistical evaluation with t-tests, diagnostic power, Pearson correlation matrices and MS-PW plots respectively. 5. 5. Impact of photo-chemical processing of dissolved organic carbon on the bacterial respiratory quotient in aquatic ecosystems

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Lina Allesson; [2015]
    Keywords : bacterioplankton respiration; physical geography; biogeochemistry; photo-oxidation; degradation; nutrients; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) enters inland waters from the surrounding terrestrial ecosystems, and is assimilated by bacterioplankton, mineralizing it to carbon dioxide (CO2). This bacterial respiration (BR) is an important part of carbon processing in freshwater, but it is also a process of global significance; in oceans and inland waters combined, BR is probably the largest single sink of organic carbon on Earth.
