  1. 1. Test setup for LDMX HCal readout

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikelfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Joshua Greaves; [2020]
    Keywords : Dark matter; LDMX; dark photon; hadronic calorimeter; photomultiplier tube; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : It is evident from cosmological observations such as the Cosmic Microwave Background, and the motion of galaxies, that the universe consists of approximately 5 times more mass than visible matter can account for. The Light Dark Matter eXperiment (LDMX) will take a unique approach in its hunt for dark matter; it will look for missing momentum signals in electron collisions with a Tungsten target, and will be looking in the sub GeV energy range for evidence of dark matter interactions. 2. 2. Dark Photon decay generated by muons in the SHiP experiment

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för materialvetenskap

    Author : Elizaveta Yakovleva; [2020]
    Keywords : dark matter; particle physics; particle accelerators; new physics;

    Abstract : This project has investigated the muon background of the SHiP experiment to determine whether it can boost the experiment sensitivity to visible Dark Photon decay. Using Fermi-Weizsäcker-Williams approximation to muon scattering we found the probability of muons generating massive photons, using Bremsstrahlung and direct lepton pair production as an estimation of the frequency of muon EM-interactions. 3. 3. Signal background interference effects in lepton trident events with a new low mass mediator

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik

    Author : Patricia Andrea Gutiérrez García; [2020]
    Keywords : dark matter; pythia; matrix element corrections; LDM; Dire; Madgraph; dark photons; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project we present a phenomenological study of signal to background interference effects in leptonic tridents produced in parton showers. The interference effects are introduced by linking matrix element corrections of a kinetically mixed dark photon model to the parton shower Dire. READ MORE

  4. 4. Two-Photon Excitation of a GaAs Quantum Dot by Electro-Optically Modulating a Continuous Wave Laser

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI); KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Author : Julia Schauman; Linnea Bendrot; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : One of the most important steps towards enabling quantum communication would be to successfully integrate single-photon emitters and quantum memories, enabling the development of quantum repeaters. This is why, as part of a larger project, the objective of this bachelor thesis was to retrieve single-photons suitable for storage inside a Rubidium-based quantum memory. READ MORE

  5. 5. Active Phase Compensation in a Fiber-Optical Mach-Zehnder Interferometer

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Informationskodning

    Author : Joakim Argillander; [2020]
    Keywords : phase stability; interferometer; quantum key distribution; fpga; automatic control; fasstabilitet; interferometer; kvantnyckeldistribution; fpga; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the phenomena of phase stability in a fiber-optical MZI (Mach-Zehnder Interferometer). The MZI is a key building block of optical systems for use in experiments with both continuous-wave light and with single photons. READ MORE
