  1. 1. CFD investigation of a unit cell inside a Plate Heat Exchanger

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för energivetenskaper

    Author : Mattias Ly; [2023]
    Keywords : Plate Heat Exchanger; CFD; Computational Fluid Dynamics; LES; Large Eddy Simulation; Periodic; Unit Cell; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A numerical investigation of the unit cell approach has been done to reduce the computational cost for CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) of plate heat exchangers (PHE) at Alfa Laval. The reduced cost would enable LES (Large Eddy Simulation) to be done which would give a more detailed and accurate insight into the flow and heat transfer processes of the PHE. READ MORE

  2. 2. Enhancing HiDAC Model Performance : Evaluating Unity Physics against Original approach in regards to diverse environments

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Karlo Stjepan Angelic; Tilda Jansson; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The High-Density Autonomous Crowds (HiDAC) model is an interesting crowd simulation model due to its unique ability to parameterize human characteristics. It is used in various applications such as urban planning, emergency management, and entertainment applications. READ MORE

  3. 3. Real-Time Soft Body Physics Engine for Enhanced ConvexPolygon Dynamics

    University essay from Örebro universitet/Institutionen för naturvetenskap och teknik

    Author : Martin Vickgren; [2023]
    Keywords : Soft-body Physics; Convex Polygons; Real-time Simulation; Collision Resolution; Physics Engine;

    Abstract : This thesis covers the development process of implementation, and evaluation of a softbody physics engine for convex polygon objects. The main feature is implementation of adynamic polygon collider that represents a polygons shape correctly, while still being ableto collide with other objects in the simulation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Improving the Accuracy of FFT-based GPGPU Ocean Surface Simulations

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för data- och informationsteknik

    Author : Jacob Eriksson; Joakim Wingård; [2022-12-01]
    Keywords : computer graphics; 3D graphics; real-time rendering; Fourier transform; FFT; simulation; GPGPU; interactive; ocean wave spectrum; oceanography;

    Abstract : In this paper, we explore how the current state of the art in real-time ocean simulations can be improved in terms of simulation accuracy, while preserving performance. Current methods, both in academia and in the industry, simulate an ocean model in frequency space on the GPU, convert said model on an approximately frame-byframe basis to the spatial domain using the Fourier transform, and then read back the resulting heightfield to the CPU as input to the application’s physics engine. 5. 5. Evaluation of communication protocol performance for use in reinforcement learning training in simulation

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för datavetenskap

    Author : Leo Wiklund; [2022]
    Keywords : reinforcement learning; network communication; communication protocols; communication performance;

    Abstract : Since artificial intelligence (AI) is growing more prominent it is interesting to look at the methods used to train AI. One such method is reinforcement learning in simulation, where AI can train safely in the confines of a simulation. READ MORE
