  1. 1. Battery storage implementation in Sweden and sizing software development

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Santiago Moreano Rojas; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Due to the rampant growth of the penetration of renewables into the electrical grids across the world, more challenges appear in the way to assure the optimal operation of the energy system. More particularly, in the case of Sweden, the nuclear power decommissioning tendency and the 100% renewable energy target by 2040, set two strong additional motivations for the rise of issues regarding variability, uncertainty, stability, balancing and quality in the grid. 2. 2. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 3. 3. On the road to grid stability - Using batteries in heavy vehicles and charging infrastructure as frequency reserves

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Produktionsekonomi

    Author : Matilda Kjellström; Caroline Wuttke; [2023]
    Keywords : Case Study; Electrification; Frequency regulation; Energy reserve; Battery; Heavy vehicles; Vehicle-to-grid; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Background: Climate change and increasing threats that come with it fosters a need for changing from fossil sources of energy to renewable ones. Sweden aims to have net zero greenhouse gas emissions by the year of 2045. One of the sectors that need to take part in this shift towards fossil free energy is the transport industry. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evaluation of key performance indices for frequency quality : A method for evaluating frequency stability in the Nordic power system

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Sophia Larbi Engelbrektsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Ancillary Services; Kinetic Energy; Frequency Dependent Load; Frequency Stability; Frequency Quality; KPI; Nordic Power System; Frekvensberoende Last; Frekvenskvalité; Frekvensstabilitet; Kinetisk Energi; Nordiska Elsystemet; Nyckeltal; Stödtjänster;

    Abstract : The Nordic power system is in a changing phase, with more power electronic interfaced connections, and HVDC connections to other synchronous areas, which impacts the frequency quality. This is a challenge for the transmission system operator of Sweden, Svenska Kraftnät, who, with the other Nordic transmission system operators, is responsible for the physical balancing of the Nordic power system. 5. 5. The Impact on System Inertia and Frequency From High Penetration of Renewable Energy

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Hugo Rensfelt; Johan Jönhagen; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : For the last couple of years, there has been an upsurge in investment in renewable energy. Whenincreasing the share of renewables in the energy mix numerous conditions have to be considered.Wind and solar power are not synchronously connected to the power grid, with the consequencethat they do not contribute to the inertia in the power system.
