  1. 1. Shear strength of prestressed concrete beams without shear reinforcement : A comparison between equations

    University essay from KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Author : Bawan Azad; [2021]
    Keywords : Shear force; prestress concrete; design provisions; Eurocode; carrying capacity; parametric study; concrete beam; Tvärkraft; förspänd betong; dimensioneringsbestämmelser; Eurokod; bärförmåga; parameterstudie; betongbalk;

    Abstract : A new version of EN 1992-1-1, Eurocode 2 for Design of Concrete Structures, is under development and one of the most discussed topics is shear capacity for prestressed concrete beams without shear reinforcement, partly because shear failure occurs suddenly and can have catastrophic consequences. For the new version of Eurocode, there are a total of three proposed equations to replace the two equations that currently exist in EN 1992-1-1 for shear capacity of prestressed concrete beams without shear reinforcement. 2. 2. Prestressed glue laminated beams reinforced with steel plates : Comparison between prestressed, reinforced and non-reinforced glue laminated beams according to the Eurocode and the Swedish annex

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Jafar Al-Djaber; [2018]
    Keywords : Prestressed glue laminated beams; Prestressed glulam beams; reinforced glue laminated beams; reinforced glulam beams; prestressing Eurocode; analytical comparision between prestressed and reinforced glulam;

    Abstract : The paper presents details of a numerical analysis and simplified construction of strengthened glue laminated beams. Glue laminated beams are strengthened through the use of steel reinforcements embedded between the lamellas of the beams. READ MORE

  3. 3. Post-tensioned stress ribbon systems in long-span roofs : Case study: Västerås Travel Center

    University essay from KTH/Betongbyggnad

    Author : Samih Ahmed; Guayente Minchot; [2018]
    Keywords : cable suspended; stress ribbon; roof structure; post-tensioned concrete; SAP2000;

    Abstract : The stress ribbon system has numerous advantages, that includes but are not limitedto: increasing overall stiffness, control deflections and reduction of materialsconsumption, which in turn, reduces the load and the cost. Nevertheless, its use isusually limited to bridges, in particular, pedestrian bridges; this can be attributedto the insufficient space that buildings’ usually have for end supports, or/and backstayedcables, that can accommodate the expected high pull-out forces occuring atthe cables’ ends. 4. 4. Design and Analysis of a Slanted Cable-stayed Building

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Matea Bradaric; David Desimons; [2017]
    Keywords : Tubed Mega Frame; high-rise buildings; SAP2000; ETABS; cable-stayed structures; Tubed Mega Frame; höghus; SAP2000; ETABS; snedkabelstrukturer;

    Abstract : The Tubed Mega Frame (TMF) is a structural system for high-rise building developed by Tyréns AB. Compared to conventional structural systems, the TMF is a coreless system that transfers the loads through the perimeter of the building instead and in turn enables ability to support new architectural shapes and forms of buildings. 5. 5. Widening of The Nockeby Bridge : Methods for strengthening the torsional resistance

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Jenny Andersson; [2016]
    Keywords : Strengthening of bridges; external prestressed reinforcement; carbon-fiber reinforced polymer; torsion; torsional resistance; prestressed concrete; Förstärkning av broar; extern spännarmering; kolfiberförstärkning; vridning; vridkapacitet; förspänd betong;

    Abstract : i Abstract The Nockeby Bridge, in the western part of Stockholm, is a prestressed concrete bridge with an openable swing span of steel. The bridge was built during 1970 and should now be widened with 0.5 meters on each side. The concrete bridge deck is supported by two main-beams and cross-beams are located at the position of all supports. READ MORE
