  1. 1. Explorative Scenarios for Future Lithium Supplies and Demand

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Aksel Rahman; [2023]
    Keywords : lithium mining; lithium future production; Gompertz models; Richards models; Logistic models;

    Abstract : Because of its specific qualities, lithium is a key element for making lithium-ion batteries, which is of great relevance since the battery sector is the fastest growing user of lithium to date and with the transition towards a fully electrified transportation sector due to the current climate agenda and an even bigger increase in demand for lithium is anticipated for the coming decades. The two main sources for lithium to date are mines and brines, with brine water composing around 87 % of the world’s lithium reserves in terms of contained lithium. READ MORE

  2. 2. Production and evaluation of enzymatically processed oat fibres as potential prebiotics

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master)

    Author : Elin Johansson; [2021]
    Keywords : Arabinoxylan; AXOS; L.brevis; B.adolescentis; Biotechnology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Insoluble oat bran fibres, with substantial arabinoxylan (AX) content, are obtained as a byproduct from industrial processing of oat. By further processing it is possible to solubilise and hydrolyse AX into (arabino)xylo-oligosaccharides ((A)XOS). READ MORE

  3. 3. Separation of Cobalt and Nickel using CYANEX 272 for Solvent Extraction

    University essay from KTH/Kemiteknik

    Author : Caroline Kihlbom; [2021]
    Keywords : Solvent extraction; cobalt-nickel separation; CYANEX 272; pregnant leach solution; cobalt sulphate; Vätskevätskeextraktion; kobolt-nickel separation; CYANEX 272; laklösning; koboltsulfa;

    Abstract : This project aimed to examine the separation of cobalt and nickel using solvent extraction (SX) with the extractant CYANEX 272 (C272). It was intended to investigate the Co-Ni separation in a sulphate-based leach solution in presence of other contaminants. READ MORE

  4. 4. Carbon capture and utilisation in the steel industry : A study exploring the integration of carboncapture technology and high-temperature coelectrolysisof CO2 and H2O to produce synthetic gas

    University essay from KTH/Energiteknik

    Author : Julia Sjoberg Elf; Kristoffer Wannheden Espinosa; [2017]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The present thesis studies the potential for introducing the technology of co-electrolysis of carbondioxide (CO2) and water (H2O) through a Solid Oxide Electrolyser Cell (SOEC) in a top gas recyclingblast furnace (TGR-BF) in a steel plant. TGR-BF, commonly presented in literature as a promisingcarbon capture and storage (CCS) pathway for the steel industry, can drastically decrease theseemissions by successively recycling up to 90 % of the top gas from a blast furnace (EU, 2014) andsequestering the CO2 from the highly carbon concentrated remaining top gas. 5. 5. Model Calibration and Optimization of a Protein Purification Process

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Sadiq Al-Kaisy; [2015]
    Keywords : Model calibration; Protein purification; Ion-exchange chromatography; Optimization; chemical engineering; kemiteknik; Chemistry; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Four different chromatography models were calibrated to describe the separation of a ternary protein mixture consisting of lysozyme, cytochrome C and ribonuclease A in an ion-exchange chromatography column. The models are based on the same column model, the kinetic dispersive model. READ MORE
