  1. 1. Phenomenological exploration of flavored Grand Unification through high-scale matching and renormalization group flow

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Hector Tiblom; [2023]
    Keywords : Grand Unification; GUT; trinification; spontaneous symmetry breaking; effective field theory; EFT; high-scale matching; renormalization group flow; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The phenomenological success of the Standard Model (SM), and its unification of the electromagnetic and weak forces has inspired the search for a Grand Unified Theory (GUT), that dynamically reduces to the SM at low energies. In this work, we consider one such GUT, based on the trinification model [SU(3)]³ with an additional local SU(2) family symmetry, that is then broken directly to the gauge symmetry group of the SM. 2. 2. Exotic Decays of a Vector-liketop Partner at the LHC

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Alexander Skwarcan-Bidakowski; [2019]

    Abstract : An evaluation of how sensitive some ATLAS searches for new physics are to a new beyond standard model (BSM) vector-like quark (VLQ) and a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) scalar. This was done by simulating a signal containing these new particles and making a recast of it onto existing verified ATLAS searches for new physics at center-of-mass (CM) energy of 13 TeV (Run 2) at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). 3. 3. An Investigation of the Trinification Scalar Sector at One Loop

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Laurie Walk; [2017]
    Keywords : GUT; Trinification; Spontaneous Symmetry Breaking; Effective Field Theory; Effective Potential; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Throughout this work we investigate a trinification-based grand unification theory (GUT) with a global family symmetry, as a radiative origin of the Standard Model (SM). We show that after spontaneous symmetry breaking of the trinification gauge group, we can in theory construct an effective left-right symmetric model (LRSM) which breaks to the SM gauge group through radiative breaking induced by the running of the model’s parameters. 4. 4. U(1) Froggatt-Nielsen model for quark mass hierarchy in 2HDM

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Johan Book; [2016]
    Keywords : 2HDM; Froggatt; Nielsen; quark mass hierarchy; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : One approach to understanding the observed hierarchy in quark masses is by using the Froggatt-Nielssen mechanism. In this model new exotic (and presumable yet undetected) particles are introduced. READ MORE
