  1. 1. Designing Behavioral Nudges for Increased Participation in Recycling as a Social Movement

    University essay from Malmö universitet/Institutionen för konst, kultur och kommunikation (K3)

    Author : Raghdah Bankash; [2023]
    Keywords : Nudging Strategies; Interaction Design; Plastic Pollution; Behavioral Change; Behavioral Change Technology BCT ; Sustainable Behaviors; Sustainability; Society; Technology;

    Abstract : This thesis project is exploring and investigates the applications of different methods of reward and nudging strategies and their potential effect on motivating and directing people’s behavior to be more engaged in recycling as a social movement within the society of Saudi Arabia. By creating sustainable behaviors, we contribute to the solutions and help minimize the potential damage of plastic pollution. READ MORE

  2. 2. The effect of recycling and processing routes on recrystallization in a secondary 3xxx aluminium alloy

    University essay from Jönköping University/JTH, Material och tillverkning

    Author : Anton Rolseth; [2023]
    Keywords : Aluminium alloys; sheet metal forming; grain boundary segregation; recrystallization; Zener pinning; casting; rolling;

    Abstract : Aluminium alloys have the possibility to be infinitely recycled. By only generating 5% of the emissions compared to primary aluminium, great CO2 savings can be made. One of the issues in manufacturing components entirely from post-consumer scrap is the presence of trace elements and impurities. Such elements can be Fe, Cu, Cr, P and Pb. READ MORE

  3. 3. Quality Assurance of Recycled HDPE in the Plastic Packaging Industry

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Innovation

    Author : Tora Abrahamsson; Juliana Kalling; [2023]
    Keywords : Thermoforming; Plastics; Recycling; Packaging Industry; HDPE; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The recycling of plastic has the potential to support circular material use, thus decreasing the need for virgin plastics. However, there is an existing issue with assuring quality of recycled plastic materials, causing finished products to perform with poorer properties and unexpected deviations. READ MORE

  4. 4. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 5. 5. Encouraging Recycling in Co-living : A Redesigning of Sorting Bins

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Eugene Chan; Avinash Kumar Karuppasamy; [2023]
    Keywords : Co-living; Student Household; Sustainable Behavior; Collective Responsibility; Individualistic Responsibility; User Experience; Nudging; Product Service System; Sorting Bins; Waste Management; Recycling; Sorting; Co-living; Studentbostad; Studentbostäder; Hållbart beteende; Kollektivt ansvar; Individualistiskt ansvar; Användarupplevelse; Puffning; Produktservicesystem; Sorteringskärl; Avfallshantering; Återvinning; Källsortering;

    Abstract : There is an inefficiency of waste management in co-living spaces for students, emphasizing the importance of proper waste sorting. A multifaceted research methodology was initiated with a literature review to understand existing waste management solutions and how they work as a system, followed by attribute studies pivotal for co-living spaces.
