  1. 1. Polymer gel dosimetry - Using MRI-readout, simplified relatively non-toxic mixing procedure tested on FLASH

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Maria Blomstedt; [2022]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Background: One of the polymer gel dosimeters available today is the N-isopropylamide (NIPAM) polymer gel dosimeter which has a less toxic monomer compared to other polymer gels and the advantage of being able to be manufactured under normal oxygen levels. Polymer gel dosimeters in general are advantageous independent dosimeters to use for verification of new radiation treatment techniques due to its favorable qualities such as very high resolution, 3D coverage, tissue equivalence and independence of energy and incident direction of the radiation beam. 2. 2. Radiochromic Film Dosimetry in Kilovoltage X-‐ray Beams: A Pre-‐ Investigation for In Vitro Studies of Bystander Effects

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen; Lunds universitet/Medicinsk strålningsfysik, Lund

    Author : Zeinab Hossein; [2015]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Purpose Intensity modulation of radiation is one of several important conditions to evaluate for full understanding of how cells involved in the bystander effect influence each other when cells are exposed to radiation at low and high dose rates. The aim of this study was to develop and apply a useful and practical dosimetric method for measurement of the absorbed dose to cell cultures exposed to intensity modulated radiation in investigations of the bystander effects. 3. 3. Modeling of scatter radiation during interventional X-ray procedures

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Avdelningen för radiologiska vetenskaper; Linköpings universitet/Medicinska fakulteten

    Author : Emelie Rehn; [2015]
    Keywords : medical staff; personnel; practitioner; staff exposure; physician; operator; occupational exposure; radiation protection; protection in medical x-ray imaging; x-ray exposure; radiation dose; radiation scatter; fluoroscopy; interventional x-ray procedures; interventional radiology; angiography; fluoroscopically guided procedures; interventional radiology dosimetry; interventional cardiology dosimetry; catheterization interventions;

    Abstract : During catheterized x-ray interventions the patient and medical staff is exposed to scatter radiation, as a consequence of tissue interactions. Ionizing radiation for medical purpose is potentially dangerous and can cause malignancy, skin damage and more. READ MORE

  4. 4. Diode Response Correction in Large Photon Fields

    University essay from Medicinsk strålningsfysik (tills m KI)

    Author : Robert Vorbau; [2010]
    Keywords : silicon diode; energy dependence; diode response; dosimetry; relative dosimetry; dosimeter; radiotherapy; radiation detector;

    Abstract : The energy dependent response of silicon diodes in photon beams is a known problem. A new approach to solve this problem is by correcting the response, a response model was suggested by Yin et al. (2002, 2004), and later refined by Eklund and Ahnesjö (2009). READ MORE

  5. 5. Silicon Diode Dose Response Correction in Small Photon Fields

    University essay from Medicinsk strålningsfysik (tills m KI)

    Author : Artur Omar; [2010]
    Keywords : Radiotherapy; Silicon diode; Dosimetry; Dose response correction; Small field; Strålterapi; Kiseldiod; Dosimetri; Dos-respons korrektion; Små fält;

    Abstract : Silicon diodes compared to other types of dosimeters have several attractive properties, such as an excellent spatial resolution, a high sensitivity, and clinically practical to use. These properties make silicon diodes a preferred dosimeter for relative dosimetry for several types of measurements in small field dosimetry, e.g. READ MORE
