  1. 1. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 2. 2. Thermal Investigation of the Green Revolution Energy Converter : A study on the heat transfer within the GREC in regards of temperature distribution and heat rate

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Mekanisk värmeteori och strömningslära

    Author : Wilma Fager; Maja Abrahamsson Bolstad; Emma Gustafsson; Emma Andersson; Matilda Eriksson; [2023]
    Keywords : GREC; Energy; Heat transfer; Heat rate; Temperature distribution;

    Abstract : To reduce emissions, new technological solutions can be of use. One technology which is currently being developed is the Green Revolution Energy Converter, GREC. GREC is an engine with the aim to produce electricity from temperature gradients.  This project is part of a greater project that is divided in two with different focus areas. READ MORE

  3. 3. Ökade produktionskostnader och krisberedskap : en intervjustudie från ekologiska nötköttsproducenters perspektiv

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Urban and Rural Development

    Author : Hanna Lundberg; [2023]
    Keywords : lantbruk; nötköttsproduktion; livsmedelssystem; livsmedelssäkerhet; försäljningskanaler; krisberedskap;

    Abstract : Kriget i Ukraina har bidragit till stora utmaningar för dagens producenter i form av ökade produktionskostnader. Kostnader för insatsvaror, el och drivmedel har skjutit i höjden vilket har bidragit till att lantbrukare tvingats skära ner sin produktion eller i vissa fall lägga ner den helt (LRF 2022b). Abstract : Transportation in Sweden currently accounts for one-third of domestic GHG emissions. Thereof more than 90 % are allocated to road traffic with passenger cars being the largest contributor. Hence, the Swedish government adopted stringent climate policies to cut transport emissionsby 70 % (compared to 2010) latest until 2030. READ MORE

  5. 5. Horses vs. Machines: A Comparative Energy Analysis between Eighteenth Century- and Modern Copper Mining

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Humanekologi

    Author : Amos Strömberg; [2021]
    Keywords : Copper mining; embodied energy; small-scale mining; degrowth; copper ore grade; Podolinsky’s principle; large-scale mining; 18th century mining; mining; Social Sciences;

    Abstract : This study shows the positive benefits of early 18th century copper mining in terms of energy efficiency due to the utilization of animate power, pre-industrial machinery, biofuels and a small-scale of organization. Based on the concept of embodied energy, this study calculates the inputs in early 18th century Falun Coppermine in Sweden and compares it with present-day Chibuluma Coppermine in Zambia. READ MORE
