  1. 1. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 2. 2. Heat recovery from vacuum brazing furnaces

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Installations- och klimatiseringslära

    Author : Oliver Robertsson; Rasmus Wikman; [2023]
    Keywords : Waste heat; Vacuum furnace; Heat recovery; HVAC; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : By partly replacing the use of primary energy sources with waste heat recovery, climate and environmental goals for the future will be closer at hand. This thesis investigates the waste heat potential of Alfa Laval's vacuum brazing furnaces in Ronneby and alternative ways of integrating the furnace's waste heat into the building's HVAC system. 3. 3. Prevention of Environmental and Health Issues due to Spread of Glitter Particles

    University essay from Blekinge Tekniska Högskola/Institutionen för maskinteknik

    Author : Yasser Hajjouz; Naret Jasim; [2023]
    Keywords : Glitter particles; Sustainability; Design Thinking; Biomimicry; Adherence;

    Abstract : Plastics are known to cause plenty of problems for the environment such as sewerage water,birds, marine life and even human health issues. Normally the cause for such small particles tobe such a huge problem lies in the adversity of collecting it after the use phase. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thermal Investigation of the Green Revolution Energy Converter : A study on the heat transfer within the GREC in regards of temperature distribution and heat rate

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Mekanisk värmeteori och strömningslära

    Author : Wilma Fager; Maja Abrahamsson Bolstad; Emma Gustafsson; Emma Andersson; Matilda Eriksson; [2023]
    Keywords : GREC; Energy; Heat transfer; Heat rate; Temperature distribution;

    Abstract : To reduce emissions, new technological solutions can be of use. One technology which is currently being developed is the Green Revolution Energy Converter, GREC. GREC is an engine with the aim to produce electricity from temperature gradients.  This project is part of a greater project that is divided in two with different focus areas. READ MORE

  5. 5. Analysis of energy efficient heat and lighting systems in a subarctic greenhouse

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : William Sigvardsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Energy efficiency; Sub-arctic greenhouses; Energy measures; Greenhouse climate control; Greenhouse technology; CFD;

    Abstract : This report studies a subarctic greenhouse located in Nikkala, Sweden called Nikkala handelsträdgård. Through a visit to the greenhouse coupled with the creation of two simulation models this study investigates the differences in energy demand with water-carried and air-carried heating systems, high pressure sodium lights and Light emitting diode lights and insulation in parts of the greenhouse without a active cultivation.
