READ MORE

  2. 2. EVALUATION OF RADIATION DOSES USING CONE BEAM COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY IN ENDOVASCULAR AORTIC REPAIR AND SCOLIOSIS PROCEDURES

    University essay from

    Author : Louise Strandberg; [2021-04-06]
    Keywords : Medical physics; Cone beam CT; CT; EVAR; scoliosis; radiation dose; effective dose;

    Abstract : Purpose: The study includes the two areas, vascular surgery and orthopedics, and focuses on endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) and scoliosis procedures. EVAR procedures contribute to a high radiation dose to the patient and for scoliosis procedures, it is often young girls that are undergoing surgery. READ MORE

  3. 3. Permeability of fluorescently labelled proteins in silk-based skin equivalent

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för farmaci

    Author : Gabriel Chumpitaz Chavez; [2021]
    Keywords : skin equivalent; recombinant spider silk; fibroblasts; keratinocytes; permeability; Franz cells; fluorescence; bovine serum albumin; sodium fluorescein salt;

    Abstract : Development of methods for studying drug delivery systems is of great significance for the improvement of topical formulations. Active compounds for topical drug delivery are often formulated into gels and creams, that can be applied onto skin surfaces. READ MORE

  4. 4. Investigation of ECG electrodes for burn wounds

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för elektroteknik

    Author : Linus Falk; [2020]
    Keywords : ECG; electrode; burn; wound;

    Abstract : This project aims to investigate a variety of electrodes for ECG (electrocardiogram) measurements and find suitable ones for burn wounded skin in association with the Burn center in Uppsala University Hospital.   To this purpose, the electrical properties (in particular, electrical impedance and equivalent circuit) of electrodes and the influence of the skin on the electrical properties are looked into, and various common artefacts in ECG measurements are investigated, such as wandering baseline (caused by perspiration, respiration, patient movement and poor electrode contact), muscle tremor artefact, 50-60 Hz power line interference and measurement noise. 5. 5. Engineering Vascularized Skin Tissue in a 3D format supported by Recombinant Spider Silk

    University essay from KTH/Proteinteknologi

    Author : Savvini Gkouma; [2020]
    Keywords : skin; BSE; bilayered skin tissue equivalent; 3D; in vitro; model; vascularized; recombinant spider silk; FN-4RepCT; dermis; epidermis;

    Abstract : Skin is an organ with a complex structure which plays a crucial role in thebody’s defence against external threats and in maintaining major homeostatic functions. The need for in vitro models that mimic the in vivo milieu is therefore high and relevant with various applications including, among others, penetration, absorption, and toxicity studies. READ MORE
