  1. 1. Prediction of flue gas properties using artificial intelligence : Application of supervised machine learning by utilization of Near-Infrared Spectroscopy on solid biofuels

    University essay from Mälardalens universitet/Akademin för ekonomi, samhälle och teknik

    Author : Bashe Abdirahman Hussein; Emran Samimi; [2022]
    Keywords : Artificial Intelligence; Machine learning; Near-Infrared spectroscopy; Solid biofuels; Fuel element; Flue gas composition; CCS;

    Abstract : This degree project studies implementation and comparison of different AI models to predict (1) solid biofuel elements including carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen as well as moisture content, ash content, and higher heating value (HHV) of the fuel and (2) flue gas compositions such as concentration of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen, nitrogen oxides, and water content using near-infrared spectroscopy and chemometric approaches. The study executes these predictions by simulating the operation of a combined heat and power plant (CHP) that is equipped with carbon capture and storage (CCS). READ MORE

  2. 2. Remediation of an arsenic-contaminated anoxic aquifer in hjältevad with zerovalent iron : assessment and modelling of sorption strength and solubility of arsenic

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Author : Kathrin Leicht; [2021]
    Keywords : arsenic remediation; zerovalent iron; anoxic aquifer;

    Abstract : In-situ injection of zerovalent Iron (ZVI) particles to remediate contaminated groundwater is a widely applied approach. However, studies assessing the remediation and immobilisation mechanisms of Arsenic (As) under anoxic field conditions with zerovalent iron particles are lacking, especially for nanosized sulphidated ZVI (S-nZVI) and oxidic shell free ZVI (OSF-nZVI). 3. 3. Spectroelectrochemical analysis of the Li-ion battery solid electrolyte interphase using simulated Raman spectra

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik

    Author : Edvin Andersson; [2020]
    Keywords : Lithium Ion Battery; Solid Electrolyte Interphase; Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy; Density Functional Theory; LIB; SEI; SERS; DFT;

    Abstract : Lithium Ion Batteries (LIBs) are important in today's society, powering cars and mobile devices. LIBs consist of a negative anode commonly made of graphite, and a positive cathode commonly made from transition metal oxides. Between these electrodes are separators and organic solvent based electrolyte. READ MORE

  4. 4. Investigation of Resistive Random Access Memory for 1T1R Nanowire Array Integration

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Orestes Theodoridis; [2020]
    Keywords : RRAM; Nanowire; Memory Technology; Nanoelectronics; Nanoscience; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : As modern electronics have started to reach its physical scaling limits, novel architectures and physics is needed to meet future demands. Oxide-based Resistive Random Access Memory (RRAM) is a new emerging technology that uses filament formation and rupture in thin oxides to generate resistive switching. READ MORE

  5. 5. Investigating potential proton conductors: Doping BaTiO3 and SrTiO3 with Fe and Al

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Strukturkemi

    Author : Julia Löfstrand; [2020]
    Keywords : Proton conductor; perovskite; solid state synthesis;

    Abstract : There are many interesting applications of proton conducting oxides, such as electrolytes in fuel cells, hydrogen sensors and catalytic membranes for hydrogenation or dehydrogenation of organic compounds. Previous work explored doping BaTiO3 with the Rare Earth Element (REE) Sc to introduce oxygen vacancies in the structure, making it a Proton Conductor (PC). READ MORE
