  1. 1. Ultraluminous sources in X-ray sky surveys

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Miquel Colom i Bernadich; [2020]
    Keywords : X-rays; X-ray astronomy; black holes; neutron stars; accretion physics; XMM-Newton; eROSITA;

    Abstract : Ultraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs) are extragalactic, non-nuclear, point-like X-ray sources whose luminosity supersedes that of the Eddington limit of an accreting stellar mass black hole (L> 10 ^ 39 erg / s). Most of them are powered by black holes and neutron stars undergoing genuine super-Eddington accretion, with a small handful of candidates being consistent with sub-Eddington accretion on an intermediate mass black hole. 2. 2. Development of Star Tracker Attitude and Position Determination System for Spacecraft Maneuvering and Docking Facility

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Rymdteknik

    Author : Serkan Dikmen; [2016]
    Keywords : star sensor; optical sensor; image processing; vision system; OpenCV; star tracker algorithms; voting methods; star catalog; attitude and position determination; star image; ground station; TCP communication; spacecraft maneuvering and docking facility;

    Abstract : Attitude and position determination systems in satellites are absolutely necessary to keep the desired trajectory. A very accurate, reliable and most used sensor for attitude determination is the star tracker, which orient itself in space by observing and comparing star constellations with known star patterns.
