  1. 1. Assessing the biodiversity crisis within the Triassic-Jurassic boundary interval using redox sensitive trace metals and stable carbon isotope geochemistry

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Halla Margrét Viðarsdóttir; [2020]
    Keywords : Stenlille; Schandelah; redox conditions; C-isotopes; marine sediments; trace elements; enrichment factors; mass extinction; Triassic – Jurassic boundary; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Around the Triassic-Jurassic-Boundary time interval, a severe mass extinction event occurred, which has been associated to volcanism of the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province (CAMP). Significant amounts of greenhouse gases as carbon dioxide (CO2) or methane (CH4) and other volatiles are suggested to have been released into the atmosphere, leading to global warming with subsequent impact on the biosphere. 2. 2. Carbonate sedimentology and carbon isotope stratigraphy of the Tallbacken-1 core, early Wenlock Slite Group, Gotland, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Jan Radomski; [2018]
    Keywords : Silurian; Gotland; Wenlock; carbon isotope stratigraphy; Slite Group; Hangvar Formation; sea level; carbonate platform; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Den mer än 700 m mäktiga lagerföljden på Gotland är erosionsresterna av vidsträckta karbonatplattformar som bildades i den Baltiska bassängen under silurperioden. Detta arbete fokuserar på stratigrafin och bergarterna i borrkärnan Tallbacken-1 som togs upp vid Stora Vede av Sveriges geologiska undersökning år 2006. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cambrian stratigraphy and depositional dynamics based on the Tomten-1 drill core, Falbygden, Västergötland, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Frans Lundberg; [2016]
    Keywords : biostratigraphy; Sweden; Västergötland; drill core; agnostoids; trilobites; δ13 excursion DICE ; Cambrian; carbon isotope stratigraphy; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The Tomten-1 drilling at Torbjörntorp in Västergötland, southern Sweden, penetrated 29.85 m of Cambrian Series 2 and 3, Furongian, and Lower and Middle Ordovician strata. The biostratigraphy, sedimentology and carbon isotope (δ[sup]13[/sup]C[sub]org[/sub]) stratigraphy of the core have been analysed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Sedimentology and carbon isotope stratigraphy of Lower–Middle Ordovician successions of Slemmestad (Oslo-Asker, Norway) and Brunflo (Jämtland, Sweden)

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Olof Peterffy; [2015]
    Keywords : Ordovician; carbon isotope stratigraphy; Baltoscandia; MDICE; ’Blommiga bladet’; ’Blodläget’; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Lower through Middle Ordovician strata are described with respect to sedimentology and carbon isotope stratigraphy from two areas, viz. two outcrops at Slemmestad in the Oslo-Asker district of southern Norway and a core section from the Brunflo area in Jämtland, central Sweden. 5. 5. Carbon isotope chemostratigraphy of the Late Silurian Lau Event, Gotland, Sweden

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Hani Younes; [2012]
    Keywords : high-resolution correlation; conodonts; carbon isotope excursion; Gotland; extinction; Silurian; Lau Event; microbial resurgence; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : The positive δ13C excursion associated with the Late Silurian Lau Event (approximately 420 Ma) is recognized globally and considered to be one of the most prominent carbon isotope excursions of the Phanerozoic. Its maximum values are exceeded only by values from the Proterozoic. READ MORE
