1. REMOVAL OF PFAS FROM WASTEWATER THROUGH ADSORPTION AND SORBENT INCINERATION
University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurserAbstract : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, PFAS, are a manufactured group of chemicals that have been found to be toxic to humans and the environment. Exposure to PFAS may include birth defects for infants as well as an increased risk of cancer. READ MORE

2. Long-Term Impact of Drought on AcidSulfate Soil Leaching, a Study of NineCatchment Areas in Sweden and Finland
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraAbstract : Sediments rich in sulfide were deposited in the Littorina sea in an environment that was shallow, anoxic, and reductive. The sediments were brought above sea level by isostatic uplift and can now be foundalong the coast of the Baltic sea. READ MORE

3. Patterns and factors affecting brownification in a boreal river
University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresursläraAbstract : During the last decades a brownification of the lakes and streams in the northern hemisphere has been observed. The change has been attributed to an increase of organic content in the water, leached from the top soil layers, called humic substances. READ MORE

4. Characterization of graphene-based sensors for forensic applications : Evaluating suitability of CVD graphene-based resistive sensor for detection of amphetamine
University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)Abstract : Recent improvements in sensor technology and applications can be partly attributed to the advancements in microand nanoscale fabrication processes and discovery of novel materials. The emergence of reliable and inexpensive methods of production of monolayer materials, such as graphene, has revealed the advantageous electronic properties which when utilized in sensory elements can significantly enhance response to the input signal. 5. Corrosion initiation induced by sodium sulfate and sodium chloride particles on Cu and the golden alloy Cu5Al5Zn at simulated atmospheric conditions
University essay from KTH/MaterialvetenskapAbstract : Effects of sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) particle deposition on the atmospheric corrosion of copper (Cu) metal and a Cu-based alloy (Cu5Al5Zn) used in architectural applications were investigated at laboratory conditions compared with effects induced by sodium chloride (NaCl) and to some extent ammonium sulfate (NH4)2SO4 induced corrosion. Pre-deposited surfaces were exposed to repeated wet/dry conditions in a climatic chamber and the formation of corrosion products were assessed using light optical microscopy (LOM), scanning electron microscopy with elemental analysis (SEM/EDS), Fourier transform infrared techniques (FTIR microscopy) and cathodic reduction (CR).
