  1. 1. ISAR Imaging Enhancement Without High-Resolution Ground Truth

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Datorseende

    Author : Moltas Enåkander; [2023]
    Keywords : SAR; SAR Imaging; ISAR; ISAR Imaging; Machine learning; Convolutional neural network; CNN; neural network; Super resolution; Unsupervised learning;

    Abstract : In synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR), an imaging radar emits electromagnetic waves of varying frequencies towards a target and the backscattered waves are collected. By either moving the radar antenna or rotating the target and combining the collected waves, a much longer synthetic aperture can be created. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 3. 3. Quality enhancement of time-resolved computed tomography scans with cycleGAN

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Johannes Stubbe; [2023]
    Keywords : carbon fibers; carbon fibres; microfibers; tomography; deep learning; cycleGAN; time-resolved tomography; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Time-resolved x-ray tomography enables us to dynamically and non-destructively study the interior of a specimen. The obtainable temporal resolution is limited by the x-ray flux and the desired spatial resolution. READ MORE

  4. 4. Towards gradient faithfulness and beyond

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för informationsteknologi

    Author : Vincenzo Buono; Isak Åkesson; [2023]
    Keywords : XAI; Visual Explanations; CAM; Grad-CAM; Expected Grad-CAM; Hyper Expected Grad; Class Activation Maps; Explainable AI; Faithfulness; Neural Network interpretability; Hyper Resolution CAM; Super Resolution CAM; Natural Encoding;

    Abstract : The riveting interplay of industrialization, informalization, and exponential technological growth of recent years has shifted the attention from classical machine learning techniques to more sophisticated deep learning approaches; yet its intrinsic black-box nature has been impeding its widespread adoption in transparency-critical operations. In this rapidly evolving landscape, where the symbiotic relationship between research and practical applications has never been more interwoven, the contribution of this paper is twofold: advancing gradient faithfulness of CAM methods and exploring new frontiers beyond it. 5. 5. Evaluation of algorithms for accurate micro-doppler effects measurement in FMCW radar

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Fysik, elektroteknik och matematik; Linköpings universitet/Tekniska fakulteten

    Author : Morgan Agerstig Rosenqvist; [2023]
    Keywords : Radar; FMCW; micro-Doppler; RPM;

    Abstract : Micro-Doppler effects are phenomena that occur because of micro-motion. A micro-motion is either a vibration, rotation, or acceleration which is small relative to the motion of the target. These effects can be used in order to characterize a target through their signature movement. READ MORE
