  1. 11. Acid Sulfate Soils and Metal Accumulation in Sediments in Rosån Catchment, Northern Sweden

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Carola Lindström; [2017]
    Keywords : Acid sulfate soils; increased metal concentrations; anthropogenic activity; Sura sulfatjordar; ökade metallkoncentrationer; mänsklig påverkan;

    Abstract : Global environmental concerns arise when marine deposits with fine-grained iron sulfide-rich sediments (FeS and FeS2), now situated above sea level, oxidize from anthropogenic lowering of the groundwater table. The oxidation of iron sulfides decreases the soil pH and the acidic environment of these Acid Sulfate Soils (AS) soils increase weathering and mobilization of metals into adjacent watercourses, lakes and estuaries. 2. 12. How Do Long-Term Declines in Anthropogenic Sulfur Dioxide Emissions and Sulfate Wet Deposition Compare with Trends in Freshwater Chemistry in Scandinavian Rivers?

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Linnea Georgii; [2017]
    Keywords : sulfur dioxide; SO2; SO42-; river chemistry; Scandinavia; Sweden; Norway; svaveldioxid; SO2; SO42-; vattendrag; Skandinavien; Sverige; Norge;

    Abstract : Acidification of precipitation is an important environmental problem that emerged during the past century, especially after the Second World War. Acidification was primarily caused by human-made emissions of SOx (mostly SO2) and NOx, which are oxidized sulfur and nitrogen gases. READ MORE

  3. 13. Membrane evaluation and thermal modelling of the vanadium redox flow battery

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Anders Kronander; [2016]
    Keywords : thermodynamics; Thermal; Simulation; Energy storage solutions; Modelling; VRB; Vanadium; Battery; chemical engineering; kemiteknik; Technology and Engineering; Chemistry;

    Abstract : In this study, different membranes were tested for their use in a vanadium redox flow battery (VRB). The membranes were first tested under charge-discharge operation of the VRB over four charge-discharge cycles at different current densities (20 mAcm-2, 40 mA cm-2 and 60 mAcm-2) and the corresponding cell performance was evaluated in terms of total energy efficiency (EE), coulombic efficiency (CE) and voltage efficiency (VE). 4. 14. Miljö- och humanpåverkan av svavel som fungicid vid ekologisk äppelodling

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Author : Anna Lundström; [2015]
    Keywords : svavel; fungicid; växtskyddsmedel; Kumulus DF; miljöpåverkan; humanpåverkan;

    Abstract : Svavel som fungicid är sedan långt tillbaka mycket känt och används mycket runt om i världen. Det får användas i många olika grödor och även i ekologisk odling, då den bland annat anses vara en naturlig substans. READ MORE

  5. 15. Ammoniakförluster vid flytgödselhantering : myllning och surgörning som metoder för att minska avgång vid spridning

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Soil and Environment

    Author : Johannes Eriksson; Victor Olaison; [2014]
    Keywords : stallgödsel; ammoniakavgång; kväve; direktmyllning; svavelsyra;

    Abstract : The ammonia emissions are an environmental issue since they contribute to eutrophication. By far the largest source of ammonia emissions is manure from agriculture and should therefore be reduced. Loss of ammonia is not only negative for the environment but also to the farmer who loses nitrogen that could have been used by the crop. READ MORE
