  1. 1. Exploring New Physics Through Collider and Gravitational Wave Measurements with Artificial Neural Networks: the Case Study of QCD-like Technicolor

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Ashar Ahmed Kamal; [2023]
    Keywords : Artificial Neural Networks; ANN; Beyond the Standard Model; BSM; parameter space scan; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : With physicists actively exploring Beyond the Standard Model (BSM) theories that may fill in the gaps of the Standard Model (SM), a fundamental question arises: which parameters hold physical significance? In this thesis, we present our initial progress towards the development of a model-independent artificial intelligence framework designed for conducting parameter space scans in BSM scenarios. Our framework incorporates several publicly available high-energy physics packages, namely SPheno, HiggsBounds, HiggsSignals, and CosmoTransitions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Precipitation analysis in bearing steel Hybrid 60

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Rebecca Rosén; [2023]
    Keywords : martensitic steel; secondary hardening; precipitation; PRISMA; martensitiskt stål; sekundärhärdning; utskiljning; PRISMA;

    Abstract : New materials are always being developed to get the best properties possible where needed. The way to create these materials and test them is also developing. When it comes to high-strength steels, a martensitic microstructure is a common choice. READ MORE

  3. 3. Gray matter alterations in individuals with PTSD compared to controls : A systematic review

    University essay from Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Author : Saga Sandkvist Studsare; Arash Arvidsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Post-traumatic stress disorder; PTSD; Voxel-Based Morphometry; gray matter;

    Abstract : This systematic review aims to investigate the alterations in gray matter volume (GMV) observed in the brains of individuals diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) through the Clinical Administered PTSD scale (CAPS) using Voxel-Based Morphometry (VBM) as a method. PTSD is diagnosed when an individual meets all the criteria for PTSD as defined by the DSM, which includes having experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, experiencing intrusive symptoms such as flashbacks or nightmares, avoiding triggers related to the trauma, experiencing negative changes in mood and cognition, and experiencing changes in arousal and reactivity. 4. 4. Comparing various methods for improving resource allocation on a single node cluster in Kubernetes

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för datavetenskap

    Author : Abaied Sopi; Plotoaga Andrei; [2023]
    Keywords : Kubernetes; latency-critical; resource allocation; CRI-RM; Vertical Pod Autoscaler;

    Abstract : When dealing with latency-critical applications in Kubernetes, a common strategy is to over-allocate resources to ensure the application can meet its latency guarantees during traffic surges. However, this practice often leads to resource underutilizationas the application will not fully utilize its reserved resources. READ MORE

  5. 5. Register Caching for Energy Efficient GPGPU Tensor Core Computing

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Qiran Qian; [2023]
    Keywords : Computer Architecture; GPGPU; Tensor Core; GEMM; Energy Efficiency; Register File; Cache; Instruction Scheduling; Datorarkitektur; GPGPU; Tensor Core; GEMM; energieffektivitet; registerfil; cache; instruktionsschemaläggning;

    Abstract : The General-Purpose GPU (GPGPU) has emerged as the predominant computing device for extensive parallel workloads in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Scientific Computing, primarily owing to its adoption of the Single Instruction Multiple Thread architecture, which not only provides a wealth of thread context but also effectively hide the latencies exposed in the single threads executions. As computational demands have evolved, modern GPGPUs have incorporated specialized matrix engines, e. READ MORE
