  1. 1. Thermal degradation of PFAS in solid matter

    University essay from KTH/Kemi

    Author : Tuqa Al-Badri; [2024]
    Keywords : PFAS; PFOS; PFOA; thermal degradation; sewage sludge; PFAS; PFOS; PFOA; termisk nedbrytning; avloppsslam;

    Abstract : Per- och Polyfluorerade alkylsubstanser (PFAS) är syntetiskt framställda organiska föreningar som har använts i stor utsträckning i konsument- och industriprodukter. PFAS-substanser besitter attraktiva egenskaper såsom resistans mot väta, fett, fläckar och är dessutom värmetåliga. READ MORE

  2. 2. Vacuum Chamber Adaptation for Low-Power Electric Propulsion Testing : Optimizing Anode Configuration and Electrical Interface for Hollow Cathode Testing, and Conceptualizing a Setup for Field Emission Electric Propulsion Testing

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Therese Bäckström; [2023]
    Keywords : Electric Propulsion; Field Emission Electric Propulsion Testing; FEEP Testing; Thruster Testing; Heaterless Hollow Cathode Testing; HHCTesting; Cathode Testing; Anode Design; Anode Configuration; Electrical Interface; Elektrisk Framdrivning; Fältjonisationsframdrivningstestning; Framdrivningstestning; Värmelös Hålkatodstestning; Katodtestning; Anoddesign; Anodkonfiguration; Elektriskt Gränssnitt;

    Abstract : Electric Propulsion (EP) is widely acknowledged as a crucial technology for future space missions, offering significant propellant savings and enabling exploration of planetary missions with smaller spacecraft (s/c). For precise attitude control of these smaller spacecraft, Field Emission Electric Propulsion (FEEP) has emerged as a favorable option due to its exceptional thrust controllability. READ MORE

  3. 3. Energy audit of a single-family house in a city in the middle of Sweden

    University essay from Högskolan i Gävle/Energisystem och byggnadsteknik

    Author : Daniela Valentina García Gimeno; [2023]
    Keywords : energy audit; building energy efficiency; building envelope; renewable sources; windows efficiency; insulation of houses in Sweden;

    Abstract : The world is currently submerged in two big problems: supply energy crisis and climate change. It is clear that society has to do its best to overcome these challenges, and one effective way to mitigate their effects is by conducting an energy audit, which helps to identify the weaknesses and strengths of the buildings, enabling improvements in their thermal efficiency. 4. 4. The development of an acoustic insulation solution using mushroom mycelium as an alternative to synthetic foams

    University essay from Jönköping University/JTH, Industridesign

    Author : Adrián Brito Guerrero de Escalante; [2023]
    Keywords : mycelium composites; design thinking; design for emotion; sustainability; acoustic insulation; fungi; mushrooms.;

    Abstract : In the past decades, humanity is facing the consequences of the irresponsible production of plastics and the expansion of industries such as industrial agriculture, Therefore, the development of new sustainable alternative materials has become increasingly popular as a science field. That is the case of mycelium composites, a biodegradable material made out of agricultural and the thread-like roots of mushrooms called mycelium. READ MORE

  5. 5. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes.
