  1. 1. Study on Decolorization of Reactive-dyed Cotton through Fenton-oxidation as a Pre-treatment for Textile Recycling

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomi

    Author : Elise Meurs; [2023]
    Keywords : Fenton-oxidation; advanced oxidation processes; decolorization; textile recycling; cotton; reactive dye;

    Abstract : In this master thesis, the feasibility of Fenton-oxidation for the decolorization of reactive dyed cotton is investigated as a potentially environmental-friendly preparatory treatment for mechanical/chemical recycling. Raw, knitted cotton is dyed with a black and a blue dye, whereafter preliminary tests are performed to investigate the influence of increasing Fenton- solution concentrations and different iron-sources on the efficiency of the discoloration, without carrying out complete optimization of the process-parameters. 2. 2. Effect of a plant-derived nutraceutical on the tolerance of axenically-cultured Artemia towards abiotic or biotic stressor

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Author : Ahumuza Allan Castro; [2023]
    Keywords : Artemia; Hsp70; Vibrio campbellii; plant extract; aquaculture; abiotic stressor;

    Abstract : Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing food-production industries worldwide accounting for almost half of fish used for human consumption. Super-intensive, intensive, and semi-intensive farming practices used to produce large farm fish are increasing the frequency of disease outbreaks which is a major problem affecting sustainable aquaculture growth. Author : Annette Kägu; [2022]
    Keywords : oat proteins; high-pressure homogenisation; emulsions; food technology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : This master thesis project was performed in collaboration with an agricultural cooperative Lantmännen Oats AB, who has developed a dry protein powder concentrate PrOatein™. The powder consists of oat proteins, dextrins, lipids and β-glucans. READ MORE

  4. 4. Comparative life cycle assessment of two desiccant wheel dehumidifiers with industrial application

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)

    Author : Astrid Ortis; [2022]
    Keywords : Desiccant wheel dehumidifier; adsorption dehumidification; life cycle assessment LCA ; EU Taxonomy; Rotorsorptionsavfuktare; luftavfuktning; livscykelanalys LCA ; EU taxonomi;

    Abstract : Humans spend around 80 percent of their lifetime indoors. The humidity level plays an essential part in indoor climate, both in non-industrial applications, such as thermal comfort, and industrial ones. Dehumidification is a technology in the field of thermal comfort and indoor climate to control humidity levels. READ MORE

  5. 5. Alkaline Protein Extraction of Oat Bran and Oat Endosperm Flour - the Effect of pH during Extraction and Precipitation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Bella Nielsen; Alva Rodhe; [2021]
    Keywords : Oats; Protein; Alkaline extraction; Protein extraction; Plant-based proteins; Oat protein; Oat bran; Oat endosperm; Iso-electric precipitation; Food engineering; Technology and Engineering; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : An increased understanding of the negative impacts of animal-based proteins, on both environment and health, has led to a rise in the demand for plant-based proteins. To meet the demands, conventional crops must be efficiently utilized. READ MORE
