  1. 1. A Conjugate Residual Solver with Kernel Fusion for massive MIMO Detection

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Centrum för forskning om tillämpade intelligenta system (CAISR)

    Author : Ioannis Broumas; [2023]
    Keywords : MIMO; massive MIMO; GPU; CUDA; Software Defined Radio; SDR; MMSE; ZF; zero-forcing; parallel detection; iterative methods; conjugate residual; parallel computing; kernel fusion;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a comparison of a GPU implementation of the Conjugate Residual method as a sequence of generic library kernels against implementations ofthe method with custom kernels to expose the performance gains of a keyoptimization strategy, kernel fusion, for memory-bound operations which is to makeefficient reuse of the processed data. For massive MIMO the iterative solver is to be employed at the linear detection stageto overcome the computational bottleneck of the matrix inversion required in theequalization process, which is 𝒪(𝑛3) for direct solvers. 2. 2. Design and evaluation of a plain MPI-based cluster execution backend for the SkePU 3 skeleton programming framework

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Programvara och system

    Author : Alexander Zeijlon; [2023]
    Keywords : SkePU; skeleton programming; algorithmic skeletons; HPC; cluster; parallel programming; MPI; OpenMP; CUDA; Hybrid; NUMA;

    Abstract : SkePU 3 is a framework for parallel program execution that uses higher order functions called skeletons, which provide a layer of abstraction between user code and the parallel implementation it provides through its backends. The backend that enables SkePU to run on an HPC cluster has a slowdown of a factor two. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaluating GPU for Radio Algorithms : Assessing Performance and Power Consumption of GPUs in Wireless Radio Communication Systems

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Albin André; [2023]
    Keywords : GPU; CUDA; Signal Processing; Radio; Algorithms; GPU; CUDA; Signalbehandling; Radio; Algoritmer;

    Abstract : This thesis evaluates the viability of a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) in tasks of signal processing associated with radio base stations in cellular networks. The development of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) is lengthy and highly expensive, but they are efficient in terms of power consumption. READ MORE

  4. 4. On GPU Assisted Polar Decoding : Evaluating the Parallelization of the Successive Cancellation Algorithmusing Graphics Processing Units

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för matematik och datavetenskap (from 2013)

    Author : Siri Nordqvist; [2023]
    Keywords : 5G; NR; New Radio; Polar Codes; Channel Decoding; Successive Cancellation; NVIDIA; GPU; CUDA; 5G; New Radio NR ; Polärkoder; Kanalavkodning; Successive Cancellation SC ; NVIDIA; Graphics Processing Unit GPU ; Compute Unified Device Architecture CUDA ;

    Abstract : In telecommunication, messages sent through a wireless medium often experience noise interfering with the signal in a way that corrupts the messages. As the demand for high throughput in the mobile network is increasing, algorithms that can detectand correct these corrupted messages quickly and accurately are of interest to the industry. 5. 5. Acceleration of Massive MIMO algorithms for Beyond 5G Baseband processing

    University essay from Högskolan i Halmstad/Akademin för informationsteknologi

    Author : Ellen Nihl; Eek de Bruijckere; [2023]
    Keywords : embedded systems; massive MIMO; GPU; massive MIMO detection; Zero-Forcing algorithm; Cholesky decomposition; CUDA; 5G and Beyond;

    Abstract : As the world becomes more globalised, user equipment such as smartphones and Internet of Things devices require increasingly more data, which increases the demand for wireless data traffic. Hence, the acceleration of next-generational networks (5G and beyond) focuses mainly on increasing the bitrate and decreasing the latency. READ MORE
