  1. 1. Using a GIS to enable an economic, land use and energy output comparison between small wind powered turbines and large-scale wind farms: the case of Oslo, Norway.

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Colin Potter; [2023]
    Keywords : Geography; GIS; Wind power; Renewable energy sources; urban wind energy; urban areas; planning; vertical axis wind turbines; comparative studies; urban integrated energy systems; Oslo; Roan; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Responding to an identified knowledge gap, the study aims to determine if smaller wind turbines located on top of existing urban buildings are more resource efficient (land utilization and economically) than large scale wind farms. To answer this question, using a GIS, the resource efficiency of the Roan wind farm in Northern Norway was compared to a theoretical modeled installation of small-scale wind turbines on top of buildings within a 2km radius study zone in central Oslo. 2. 2. Trainable Region of Interest Prediction: Hard Attention Framework for Hardware-Efficient Event-Based Computer Vision Neural Networks on Neuromorphic Processors

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Cina Arjmand; [2023]
    Keywords : Artifical Intelligence; Machine Learning; Neuromorphic Engineering; Computer Vision; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Neuromorphic processors are a promising new type of hardware for optimizing neural network computation using biologically-inspired principles. They can effectively leverage information sparsity such as in images from event-based cameras, and are well-adapted to processing event-based data in an energy-efficient fashion. READ MORE

  3. 3. Fog detection using an artificial neural network

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Quanwei Li; Tiancheng Ma; [2023]
    Keywords : Machine Learning; Deep Learning; Image Analysis; Computer Vision; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : This project studies a method of image-based fog detection directly from a camera without using the transmissometer. Fog can be detected using transmissometers which could be a very costly approach. This thesis presents an image-based approach for fog detection using Artificial Neural networks. READ MORE

  4. 4. Playing by the Rules: Exploring the Challenges to Copyright Protection faced by Video Game Publishers

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Juridiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Juridiska fakulteten

    Author : Alice Niamh Savage; [2023]
    Keywords : Law and Political Science;

    Abstract : The intellectual property regime within the European Union is one which has a rich and lengthy history, encompassing a wealth of forms of expression. The harmonisation of copyright can be dated to the creation of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works of 1886. READ MORE

  5. 5. A Meta-Synthesis of Architecture

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö

    Author : Md Baiyazeed Hassan; [2022]
    Keywords : architecture; urban design; archigram; futurism; mixed reality; augmented reality; virtual reality; Arts and Architecture;

    Abstract : The built environment will soon continue to develop as virtual and augmented reality become increasingly integrated into how we work, play, and learn. My degree project explores the many possibilities of combining architecture with augmented virtuality by looking into this new medium of technology that is constructing mixed reality with the built environment.
