  1. 1. Embedding Carbon Nanotubes Sensors into Carbon Fiber Laminates

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Riccardo Andolfi; [2022]
    Keywords : Multifunctional Materials; Sensing Abilities; Carbon Nanotubes; Carbon Fibers; Analytical Modelling; Finite Element Modelling; Multifunktionella Material; Avkänningsförmåga; Kolnanorör; Kolfibrer; Analytisk Modellering; Finita Elementmodellering;

    Abstract : The use of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composite materials in structural applications has increased in the past decades in highperformance sectors, such as in the automotive and aeronautic industries, for weight reduction purposes. However, FRP composite materials can offer more significant innovation potential. READ MORE

  2. 2. Coupled flux nucleation model applied to the metallic glass AMZ4

    University essay from Malmö universitet/Institutionen för materialvetenskap och tillämpad matematik (MTM)

    Author : Mattias Tidefelt; [2021]
    Keywords : Material science; numerical modeling; metallic glasses; classical nucleation theory;

    Abstract : Additive manufacturing (AM), also known as 3D-printing, has made it possible to produce components made of bulk metallic glass (BMG) which have remarkable properties compared to parts made of conventional alloys. A metallic glass is a metastable noncrystalline alloy that form if a melt is quenched with a sufficient cooling rate. READ MORE

  3. 3. Impact Resistance of CFRP Products

    University essay from KTH/Lättkonstruktioner

    Author : Noel Chacko; [2018]
    Keywords : Impact performance; TeXtreme R; Composite; Thin plies; Sports;

    Abstract : This thesis investigated the impact performance of CFRP products within the sports industry. The primary aim of this thesis was to evaluate different configurations, matrix system, and technologies to find the best performing solutions for impact. During this work, an extensive literature study was conducted and various solutions were reviewed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Thermal Stability of Carbon Nanotubes and Role of Intercalation

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Anton Landström; [2016]
    Keywords : Carbon nanotubes; raman; cnt; thermal; nanomaterials; spectroscopy; heating; stability;

    Abstract : Research in carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has become a very active field in the past decades, with much interest in their electronic and mechanical properties. However, the thermal properties of CNTs are still not well understood, in particular the process of annealing; i.e. purification of samples by desorption of internal and external impurities. 5. 5. Fabrication of surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) active substrates based on vertically aligned nitrogen doped carbon nanotube forest

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Md Khorshed Alam; [2015]
    Keywords : Photolithography; Physical Vapor Deposition; Chemical Vapor Deposition; Annealing; Scanning Electron Microscopy; Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy;

    Abstract : This thesis work describes the fabrication and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) characterization of vertically aligned nitrogen (N) doped multi walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) forests coated by silver (Ag) and gold (Au) nanoparticles. In the present work, the CNT forests were grown from a catalyst metal layer by the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) process at temperature of 800 oC and a physical vapor deposition (PVD) and annealing processes were applied subsequently for the evaporation and diffusion of noble metal nanoparticles on the forest.
