  1. 1. Increasing the diodicity of ceramic Tesla valves by exploiting the design freedom of additive manufacturing : A study in design optimizations of Tesla valves for ceramic 3D printing

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för materialvetenskap

    Author : Udit Sharma; [2024]
    Keywords : additive; manufacturing; Tesla; valve; ceramic; 3D; printing;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis was conducted at Uppsala University and at Fraunhofer IKTS, Dresden. The thesis aims to study design optimizations for increasing the diodicity and thereby performance of a Tesla valve, a type of “no moving parts” (NMP) valve, through design freedoms offered by ceramic additive manufacturing. 2. 2. Rapid expansion of roof mounted PV systems in commercial facilities - How can they be insured?

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Riskhantering (CI); Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet

    Author : Erik Lindén; [2023]
    Keywords : PV system fires; PV component failures; PV regulations; future PV regulations; PV risk assessment; PV risk evaluation; PV insurance price; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : PV system components that are exposed to unmanageable strain can be overheated, which subsequently results in a fire ignition. Common failure factors are poor component quality, mechanical exposure due to natural phenomena and poor craftmanship. The underlying problem is that PV regulations are lacking in quality or are non-existent. READ MORE

  3. 3. Vibroacoustic Analysis of an OLTC Diverter Switch for Condition Monitoring : Time frequency analysis with Fourier and wavelet transform in combination with multivariate logistic regression for condition monitoring of OLTC diverter switch

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för systemteknik

    Author : Simon Persson; [2023]
    Keywords : Wavelet transform; CWT; logistic regression; machine learning; ML; vibroacoustic analysis; time frequency analysis; tap changer; diverter switch; power transformer; classification; prediction; condition; vibrations; state prediction; Hitachi Energy;

    Abstract : Vibrations are everywhere around us all the time and we often recognise them as sounds that we can hear and analyse with our brain. In this thesis, data that has been gathered from a diverter switch (DS) in a controlled environment, is analysed. READ MORE

  4. 4. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 5. 5. A comparative study on anapproach to print Industrial Toolsvia Additive Manufacturing for Volume Production from Technical, Economic, and Environmental aspects

    University essay from KTH/Produktionsutveckling

    Author : Purav Mukesh Thaker; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The thesis explores a path to use Additive Manufacturing as an approach for volume production of Industrial Technique Business Area Tools, addressing the challenges of manufacturing complexity, low volume demand, and quality control for both Atlas Copco Industrial Technique industrial tools (Tool 1 & Tool 2). This study is done in cooperation with Atlas Copco Industrial Technique, comparing the technological, economic, and environmental performance of AM versus the current manufacturing approach from a round bar.
