  1. 1. Interactive Visualization of Network Models in JavaScript/TypeScript for Web-based Applications

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Morrow Erik; [2023]
    Keywords : Networks; Information visualization; Information Theory; Interactive visualization; Nätverk; Informationsvisualisering; Informationsteori; Interaktiv visualisering;

    Abstract : Networks of nodes and links are powerful tools to model complex systems, however, when the number of nodes and links grows to the thousands then even the network becomes too complex to comprehend unless we can simplify and highlight the networks underlying structure. The map equation is a method developed by the researchers at IntegratedScience Lab that uses an information theoretic approach to reveal community structure using the flow of information on the network modeled with random walks. 2. 2. Additives in a steam engine to decrease friction : Friction testing of solid lubricants in powder form

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap och fysik (from 2013)

    Author : Viktor Lange; [2023]
    Keywords : Tribology; friction; wear; steam; steam engine; ranotor; invencon; invencon AB; steel; contact mechanics; hexagonal boron nitride; molybdenum disulfide; tungsten disulfide; lubricants; solid lubricants; Tribologi; friktion; nötning; ånga; ångmotor; stål; kontaktmekanik; smörjning; smörjmedel; fasta smörjmedel;

    Abstract : This thesis aims to investigate the coefficient of friction between steel on steel contacts with the addition of solid lubricants such as h-BN, WS2, MoS2 in powder form, in dry conditions and wet conditions. More specifically, the purpose is to enhance the sliding between the piston rings and cylinder block in a modern high temperature steam engine developed by RANOTOR. READ MORE

  3. 3. Information Extraction for Test Identification in Repair Reports in the Automotive Domain

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för lingvistik och filologi

    Author : Huang Jie; [2023]
    Keywords : text classification; information retrieval; contrastive learning; prompt-based fine-tuning; large language models;

    Abstract : The knowledge of tests conducted on a problematic vehicle is essential for enhancing the efficiency of mechanics. Therefore, identifying the tests performed in each repair case is of utmost importance. This thesis explores techniques for extracting data from unstructured repair reports to identify component tests. READ MORE

  4. 4. Modelling the Water Table in a Bog

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Tobias Bowley; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Over the past five years, an ongoing study at INES, Lund University, have examined the encroachment of trees and vegetation into a bog ecosystem in northern Scania, Sweden. While several factors have been identified as contributing to this ecological transformation, including, nutrient availability, and climate, the hydrological aspect remains a key area of investigation. 5. 5. Spectromorphological Reductions : Exploring and developing approaches for sound-based notation of live electronics

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Musik, medier och teater

    Author : Hans Lennart Jonsäll; [2023]
    Keywords : live electronics; electronic music; electroacoustic music; notation; spectromorphology; typo-morphology; Sound Notation; digital musical instruments.;

    Abstract : In this master’s thesis, a sound-based notation system is explored and developed in the composition and performance of a musical work for live electronics. My approach builds on existing systems for electroacoustic music analysis, most notably Dennis Smalley’s (1997) theory of spectromorphology and the symbolic language of Lasse Thoresen & Andreas Hedman (2007) based on Pierre Schaeffer’s typo-morphology, as well as Mattias Sköld’s (2023) adaptation of this system for composition and transcription (Sound Notation).
