  1. 1. Motivating Sustainable Transitioning: Enabling and Limiting Factors Within the Petroleum Industry. A Qualitative Analysis of Enabling and Limiting Factors for Sustainable Transitioning Within the Petroleum Industry

    University essay from Handelshögskolan i Stockholm/Institutionen för marknadsföring och strategi; Handelshögskolan i Stockholm/Institutionen för företagande och ledning

    Author : Oliwer Holm; Philip Hansson; [2024]
    Keywords : Sustainable Transitioning; Petroleum Industry; Expectancy- Value Theory; Motivation;

    Abstract : The increasing global awareness and enormity of the climate crisis has led to intensified pressure towards multiple industrial sectors to commit to a sustainable transition, one of them being the petroleum industry. Being the manufacturers and suppliers of fossil fuels they have the power to shape the market. READ MORE

  2. 2. Recovery of Dialcohol Cellulose using Micro- and Ultrafiltration Processes

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Lina Näslund; Gabriella Petersson; [2023]
    Keywords : Membrane filtration; Ultrafiltration; Microfiltration; Dialcohol cellulose; DAC; Bioplastics; Chemical engineering; Process design; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The waste management and production of plastic play a concerning part in global warming and continues to have a negative effect on the environment. A promising strategy to address this challenge is to develop new sustainable materials, to replace current fossil-based plastics. READ MORE

  3. 3. Reprocessing and Characterization of Polybenzimidazole for High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Centrum för analys och syntes

    Author : Douglas Björkengren; [2023]
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells; PEMFC; HTPEMFC; polymer technology; polymer characterization; reprocessing; recycling; polybenzimidazole; PBI; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : A reprocessing method of poly(2,2’-(m-phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole) (PBI) membranes recovered from the production line of High-Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) at Blue World Technologies (BWT) has been developed in order to reduce material loss in the production. Redissolution of scrap PBI membranes in poly(phosphoric acid) (PPA) and phosphoric acid (PA) was successful and the subsequent washing procedure produced PBI that could be redissolved in N,N-dimethyl acetamide (DMAc) and suitable for solution casting of new membranes. 4. 4. Production of polymers from a papermills wastewater using HTC substrate. : Investigating the viability of using wastewater sludge from Skoghalls’ papermill in combination with filtrate from HTC of sewage sludge to produce biological plastic producing polymers.

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Avdelningen för energi-, miljö- och byggteknik

    Author : Regan George; [2023]
    Keywords : PHA; HTC-substrate; Polymer;

    Abstract : Since their conception, plastics have been a dominant product due to the versatility of use, and readily available raw materials. However, the production and consumption of synthetic plastics have continued to increase over the years, leading to a significant rise in plastic waste and its associated environmental impacts, such as the detrimental effects plastic waste has on ecosystems, including the presence of toxic microplastics and risks to marine life, are becoming the focus of criticism. 5. 5. Modified cellulose synthesized by different deep eutectic solvents as an additive in paper making process

    University essay from Karlstads universitet

    Author : Shiniar Said Saleh; [2023]
    Keywords : green chemistry; dry strength additives; deep eutectic solvents; sodium periodate oxidation; charge density; dewatering; mechanical strength.;

    Abstract : The environmental concerns that come with the currently used traditional papermaking process where petroleum-based additives are used, has tempted researchers to study “green” additives by introducing environmentally friendly modifications of cellulose as an additive in the papermaking process. This thesis will spin further on that by producing additives with different charge densities and focus on to incorporate an etherification reaction into potentially greens systems based on non-toxic and readily biodegradable deep eutectic solvent (DES).
