  1. 1. First principles investigation of the thermal conductivity of Zr, ZrC, and ZrN

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Daniel Karlsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Electron-phonon interaction; Density functional theory; Boltzmann transport equation; first-principles; thermal conductivity; electrical resistivity; Abinit; Phono3py; Elektron-fononväxelverkan; täthetsfunktionalteori; Boltzmanns transportekvation; värmeledningsförmåga; elektrisk resistivitet; Abinit; Phono3py;

    Abstract : The thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity of Zr, ZrC, and ZrN were calculated using first-principles density functional theory (DFT) and the Boltzmann transport equation. The electron-phonon scattering was modeled via the self-energy relaxation time approximation (SERTA), and the phonon-phonon scattering via the analogous single-mode relaxation time approximation (SMRTA). 2. 2. The data-driven CyberSpine : Modeling the Epidural Electrical Stimulation using Finite Element Model and Artificial Neural Networks

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Yu Qin; [2023]
    Keywords : Spinal Cord Injury; Epidural Electrical Stimulation; Computational Neuroscience; Finite Element Model; Artificial Intelligence; Optimal Transport; EMG; Muscle Activation; Ryggmärgsskada; Epidural Elektrisk Stimulering; Beräkningsneurovetenskap; Finita Elementmodellen; Artificiell Intelligens; Optimal Transport; EMG; Muskelaktivering;

    Abstract : Every year, 250,000 people worldwide suffer a spinal cord injury (SCI) that leaves them with chronic paraplegia - permanent loss of ability to move their legs. SCI interrupts axons passing along the spinal cord, thereby isolating motor neurons from brain inputs. To date, there are no effective treatments that can reconnect these interrupted axons. 3. 3. Investigation of charge injection at electrode-dielectric interface relevant for HVDC cables : Simulation of charge injection and transport dynamics in electrical insulation for HVDC cables

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Mohammed Mosa; [2023]
    Keywords : BCT model; charge injection; space charge density; electric field distribution; Fowler-Nordheim; Richardson-Schottky;

    Abstract : A bipolar charge transport (BCT) model is used to simulate charge injection and transportdynamics inside insulation material which are used in a high voltage direct current (HVDC)cable. Gaining knowledge about space charge density and electric field distribution in theinsulation material enables minimising charge injection at the metal-insulator interface andavoiding unnecessary energy loss. 4. 4. CFD Analysis of Engine Room Temperature : CFD Analysis of Engine Room Temperature: Case study The Grange Castle Power Plant Project

    University essay from Högskolan i Gävle/Avdelningen för byggnadsteknik, energisystem och miljövetenskap

    Author : William Wanli; [2023]
    Keywords : CFD Computational Fluid Dynamics; ventilation system; temperature; airflow; engine room.;

    Abstract : Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has emerged as an indispensable tool in various engineering fields, particularly in the design and optimization of HVAC systems in complex environments, such as engine rooms. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of CFD applications and focuses on the engine rooms of the Grange Castle Power Plant in Dublin, Ireland. READ MORE

  5. 5. Numerical Simulations of Metal Recovery for Battery Recycling

    University essay from KTH/Processteknologi

    Author : Morgan Ölander; [2023]
    Keywords : Batteriåtervinning; Metall återvinning; Kristallisation; Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD ; Populationsbalansmodellering; Battery recycling; Metal recovery; Crystallisation; Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD ; Population balance modelling;

    Abstract : Den pågående elektrifieringen av transport och samhälle kräver utveckling av nya metoder för återvinning av batterier. Hydrometallurgi som fokuserar på selektiv kristallisation av metaller är ett intressant alternativ för dessa ändamål. Dessa system kan studeras genom modellering och simulering. READ MORE
