  1. 1. Transverse Momentum Spectra in pp collisions (\sqrt{s}\) = 7 TeV and \(\sqrt{s}\) = 13 TeV in ALICE

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Andreas Stokkeland; [2023]
    Keywords : Multiplicity; Multiplicity classes; Soft interactions; Quark Gluon Plasma; QGP; transverse momentum; p_T; Chi-squared; fits; fit functions; Levy; Lévy; Exponential; BGBW; Boltzmann-Gibbs blast-wave; Fermi-Dirac; Bose-Einstein; Boltzmann; pion; kaon; proton; transverse momentum spectra; p_T spectra; surface velocity; Minimum Bias; MB; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project particle production as a function of transverse momentum (\(p_{\rm T}\)) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy (\(\sqrt{s}\)) of 7 TeV and 13 TeV has been studied. The transverse momentum is interesting to study since it reflects momentum created in the collision (before the collision, all momentum is in the beam - going in a longitudinal direction) and therefore gives information on the collision dynamics. 2. 2. Wide-Angle Radome Design for Low-Cost Additive Manufacturing

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik

    Author : Martin Fajerberg; Mattias Nylander; [2022]
    Keywords : Radar; Radome; A-Sandwich; B-Sandwich; Multilayer; Polarization; Angle of Incidence; Finite Element Method; Differential Evolution Optimization; Transmission Line Theory; Honeycomb; Additive Manufacturing; Electromagnetic Theory; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : The radome, a portmanteau of the words radar and dome, is a protective dielectric cover to protect a radar from its surrounding environment. The surrounding environment can be rain, wind, sand, dust and whatever else that might harm the radar. READ MORE

  3. 3. Active stabilisation of a micro-sized fibre cavity using tilt locking to enable quantum operations on single ions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Jannek Hansen; [2021]
    Keywords : Quantum computation; optical cavity; microcavity; locking; tilt locking; cavity stabilization; Gaussian-Hermitian modes; quantum computer; higher-order transverse modes; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the tilt locking scheme is applied to create an error signal that monitors length changes in a fibre-based microcavity. To find a robust and precise locking technique is an essential step towards quantum operations on single rare-earth ions doped in microcrystals. Quantum computing and information is a frontier of modern physics. READ MORE

  4. 4. Millimeter-Wave Pencil Beam Leaky-Wave Antenna

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Tom Eriksson; Erik Westberg; [2021]
    Keywords : Leaky-wave antenna LWA ; Continuous transverse stubs CTS ; Parallel plate waveguide PPW ; Dispersion;

    Abstract : Moving into higher frequencies, in occurrence withmodern applications, poses the issue of higher attenuation ofelectromagnetic waves, which in turn demand more directiveantennas. This paper proposes a directive antenna designoperating at 30GHz based on leaky-wave technology. Themodel consists of two main components. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modelling a Novel Linear Transverse Flux Machine and Designing a Hysteresis Current Controller for Power Factor Correction

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Ahmed Alhaidari; [2019]
    Keywords : double band hysteresis current controller; linear machine; magnetic circuit model; power take-off; transverse flux permanent magnet synchronous machine; wave energy conversion;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the basics of electromagnetic theory for wave-energy conversion are reviewed, some of the characteristics of the ocean wave are investigated, some of the power take-off (PTO) systems are introduced, and details about linear permanent magnetic machines, in particular, are discussed.  The thesis aims to model the novel linear transverse flux machine designed by Anders Hagnestål and to build hysteresis current controller for power factor correc- tion.
