  1. 1. The transition of reaction-to-fire behavior from biomass to corresponding biochar

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Jacob Johansson; [2023]
    Keywords : biochar; biomass; heat release rate; reaction-to-fire;

    Abstract : As of now, the environmental issue is very topical and there is also an underutilization of different biological material where these can be used in ways that are typically not thought of. One way to increase the degree of utilization is to convert various biomasses such as natural rubber, olive pits, wood chips, and reed pellets into biochar. READ MORE

  2. 2. Analysis of non-volatile chemicals from graminoid plants

    University essay from KTH/Kemi

    Author : Jakob Flygar; [2022]
    Keywords : Liquid Chromatography; Cyperus Rotundus; Panicum Repens; Malaria; Mass spectrometry; Vätskekromatografi; Cyperus Rotundus; Panicum Repens; Malaria; Masspektrometri;

    Abstract : Syftet med denna studie var att utveckla en separations- och analysmetod för identifiering av icke-volatila substanser från strån och rötter av de gräsliknande växterna Cyperus rotundus och Panicum repens. För analysen användes högpresterande vätskekromatografi (HPLC) och ultrahögpresterande vätskekromatografi (UHPLC) med en opolär stationär fas (RP-HPLC) med ultraviolett ljus (UV) och elektrosprej masspektrometri detektion (ESI-MS). 3. 3. REMOVAL OF PFAS FROM WASTEWATER THROUGH ADSORPTION AND SORBENT INCINERATION

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser

    Author : Aston Sandblad; [2022]
    Keywords : PFAS; Adsorption; Incineration;

    Abstract : Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, PFAS, are a manufactured group of chemicals that have been found to be toxic to humans and the environment. Exposure to PFAS may include birth defects for infants as well as an increased risk of cancer. READ MORE

  4. 4. Analysis of polyfunctional thiols in beer : Developing a novel method of extraction and analysis using GC-FID

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Arvid Lindmark; [2022]
    Keywords : Beer; Hops; Thiols; 3MHA; 4MMP; Food Technology; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : In this project, attempts were made to identify and quantify two polyfunctional thiols – 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentanone and 3-mercaptohexyl acetate – and three monoterpene alcohols – linalool, geraniol, and β-citronellol – in beer samples. In order to avoid the use of hazardous compounds such as dichloromethane and hydroxymercuriobenzoate, common in traditional methods, two novel techniques were tested: a pure liquid-liquid extraction of the beer samples with cyclohexane, and a liquid-liquid extraction with cyclohexane followed by solid phase extraction on silver ion columns. 5. 5. Våmacidos – den svårupptäckta sjukdomen : en studie kring hur sjukdomen uppkommer samt dess förekomst i Sverige

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)

    Author : Linnéa Jönsson; Amanda Pettersson; [2021]
    Keywords : våmacidos; subakut våmacidos; SARA; foderrelaterade sjukdomar på mjölkkor; rumen acidosis; subacute rumen acidosis; digestive disorders of dairy cows;

    Abstract : För att mjölkkor ska ha en väl fungerande våm krävs en foderstat med en stor mängd fiberrika material som stimulerar till idissling. Vid en för hög tillförsel av stärkelse och en lägre andel fibrer i foderstaten kan mängden flyktiga fettsyror öka i våmmen. READ MORE
