  1. 1. Analysis of vortex movement in an YBCO thin film : Models of the vortex solid-to-liquid transition compared to a sensitive resistive measurement of a strongly pinned YBCO thin film

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för informations- och kommunikationsteknik (ICT)

    Author : Alex Ellgren; [2013]
    Keywords : High-temperature superconductor; YBCO; vortex dynamics; glass transition; vortex glass; vortex molasses;

    Abstract : When a high-temperature superconductor transitions in the presence of a magnetic field, the resistance does not immediately go to zero. Instead, the transition is smoothed by the resistive effects of moving vortices so that perfect conductivity isn't reached until several K below Tc, where the vortices have frozen into a glass state. 2. 2. The glass transition in high-temperature superconductors

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för informations- och kommunikationsteknik (ICT)

    Author : Peter Berglund; [2010]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : In high-temperature superconductors a large region of the magnetic phase diagram is occupied by a vortex phase. This vortex phase can be divided into two regions. At lower temperatures the vortices are in a truly superconducting solid phase. At higher temperatures the solid changes to a dissipative vortex liquid. READ MORE
