  1. 21. Design of compact automotive heat exchanger, analysing the effects of RANS models and utilising Additive Manufacturing

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Nikhil Srikkanth; Bartosz Brzuchalski; [2022]
    Keywords : Turbulence; Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes; KTH Formula Student; metal additive manufacturing; CFD; turbulent kinetic energy; boundary layer;

    Abstract : The analytical modelling of complex turbulent airflow remains one of the great unsolved mysteries of physics, but in this paper two widely used Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes models (k-$\epsilon$ and k-$\omega$ SST) are compared while designing a heat exchanger for the KTH Formula Student electric race car. CAD software was used to design lattices for the heat exchanger core and theorise about how to increase heat transfer while also taking into account the utilisation of metal additive manufacturing. 2. 22. Friend or foam? Improved methods for stunning of pigs with foam : effects of repetition and scent on pig reaction to foam

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Environment and Health

    Author : Miranda Blad; [2022]
    Keywords : pig; behaviour; stunning; foam; smell; scent; fear assessment; animal welfare;

    Abstract : There are several methods available for stunning of pigs before slaughter, but the most frequently used at larger abattoirs are electricity and CO2. There are advantages and disadvantages with both methods. As there is no method that does not have major animal welfare drawbacks. READ MORE

  3. 23. Pushing the boundaries of acoustic particle separation: achieving high-throughput, avoiding spillover effects, investigating the effects of the particle concentration, and measuring acoustic properties

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik

    Author : Linda Péroux; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Acoustophoresis, i.e., the contactless manipulation of small cells or particles via acoustic waves is a gentle and label-free method that can, amongst others, be used to isolate rare cells such as circulating tumor cells from blood. To isolate enough cells, a large amount of sample needs to be processed in a reasonable amount of time. READ MORE

  4. 24. Investigation of methods to analyse global stability of a reinforced concrete stabilising core

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Evelina Husak; Ellinor Persson; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Ensuring the structural stability of a building is an evident requirement for the building to be safe to use. This becomes a qualified task for a structural engineer. Ensuring stability has become especially important nowadays while stabilising elements often are kept to a minimum and tall buildings are common. READ MORE

  5. 25. The importance of the two- and three component systems WalRK and VraTSR for antibiotic resistance and phage susceptibility in Staphylococcus aureus

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi

    Author : Jack Abrahamsson; [2022]
    Keywords : MRSA; Vancomycin; VISA; phage; bacteriophage; Staphylococcus aureus; antibiotic resistance; chemical engineering; Biology and Life Sciences;

    Abstract : Staphylococcus aureus is a human commensal bacterium, living primarily on the skin and in the nose. It is also a pathogen able to cause a wide range of diseases, including food poisoning, infection of wounds but also more serious infections such as bacteremia and endocarditis. READ MORE
