Does team building support the creation of high-performing teams?
Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this study is to discover whether team building activities positively affect team performance or not, by probing into the correlation of the components of high-performing teams. Consequently, the objective of this study is to develop the understanding of the effect of team building as well as probing into the factors which managers should consider when conducting team gatherings. Research Questions: ● Do team building activities support the creation of high-performing teams? ● What are the factors that affect the results of team building activities? Methodology: This study uses quantitative approach which gathers data from a questionnaire distributed to different people, which can be categorized as deductive research. The questionnaire was designed and developed specifically for the research question, with a pilot test done before the distribution of formal questionnaire. Conclusion: The positive correlation between team building and team performance evidently exists, which is sorely determined by the quality instead of frequency of team building.
