Software Traceability Tools: Features

Abstract: Software traceability is implemented by varioustools, from application lifecycle management (ALM) tools torequirements management (RM) tools to stand-alonetraceability tools. Each tool has an unique way to presenttraceability information to their users and each tool varies infeatures. This paper presents an evaluation framework ofsoftware traceability and the result of a questionnaire whichwas based on the evaluation framework and answered by 17software traceability tool vendors. In addition to theframework the tool vendor representatives added additionalfeatures which they consider key for their tool. With a largeamount of data on traceability tools this paper aims to makecompanies’ selection of traceability tools more informed andprecise by providing an insight to various tools’ functionalities.
