A method for producing assembly instructions - Applied to Polyplank environmental houses

Abstract: As the market for environmental houses is growing, the manufacturers will be forced to increase their productivity. Not having any complete assembly instructions for their products, companies like Polyplank can’t expand as fast as they would like. If assembly instructions would be available, the producing company could let the customer assemble the product on their own. That would in turn lead to increased productivity for the producing companies. Producing assembly instructions is a long process that requires a lot of work to get a satisfying outcome. The most important part of the process is to have good knowledge of the involved products. Including how they are produced as well as how they are assembled. By studying the production and assembly process, problem areas can be located. Once they have been narrowed down the work with producing the assembly instructions can begin. The first step is to decide witch type of assembly instructions to use. Since assembly instructions can be differently designed, the deciding factor is who the user is. The type of assembly instructions that is suggested for Polyplank is a more technically advanced assembly instruction with blueprints showing how the details is going to be assembled. In order to describe the process of producing assemble instructions a flowchart and a checklist has been produced.
