Island back to people - regeneration process of the post-industrial island

University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för arkitektur och byggd miljö

Abstract: In many post-industrial cities, the relationship between water and the city has changed over the years. Our needs are different now, and because of that, the character and usage of these locations have changed with time. From areas with production power and industrial growth, to sources of social hubs, leisure, and outdoor activities. All of these cities have the same challenge in common, to become a bridge from a heavy infrastructure, formerly serving the industry, and as a catalyst, reconnect the historic city centers with their natural identity.
