Abstract: This master thesis has focused on the implementation of a new high strength
steel called USIBOR1500 for a car’s B-Pillar. The main task has been to
investigate the laser-weldability of this steel before hot-stamping. This
steel has normally a tensile strength of 600 MPa. However, after a thermal
treatment as a hot stamping process, it can reach up to 1500 MPa.
The study has focused on the laser welding of USIBOR1500 for the B-pillar.
The method used to weld the parts between them has been tailor welding. The
laboratory investigation has consisted of the realization of different
analysis as micrographic studies, elastic resistance studies, metallurgic
studies, tensile test analysis, etc.
