Security evaluation of a smart door lock system

Abstract: As the market for Internet of Things (IoT) devices grows, concerns regarding the security of these devices should be risen. A smart lock is an IoT device with especially high security demands, since its purpose is to keep a home or business safe from intruders. Previous papers show security vulnerabilities in older smart locks on the market. To investigate improvements in new locks, previously reported successful hacking attacks on smart locks were tested on Yale Doorman L3, a smart lock manufactured by the global market leader ASSA ABLOY. The results show that few of the previously reported deficiencies was found in the Yale Doorman L3 lock.
