Abstract: Long-term sick leave has increased dramatically since the 1990s. Sick leave is usually related to employment when the individual has suffered from severe work-related stress without the possibility of recovery because of the work situation. This leads in turn to the individual feels exhausted, both physically and mentally. A name that can describe this kind of situation is burnout. Purpose of this study is to get a denominator and deeper understanding of how the nursing staff changed emotionally after burnout process. Qualita-tive approaches in the form of semi-structured interviews were conducted with four individuals. The result has been developed us-ing a thematic analysis. The resultats shows that health profession-als feel much better today. They have changed in many ways. For a example, they gotten back the job satisfaction, they are happier, the energi has returned and a increasad tolerance to the body’s reac-tions during stressful periods. The results are also discussed with previous research and essential theories.
