Abstract: Abstract Background: Nurses are allowed to have a variety of influence and policy makingauthority opportunities in global health and as part of the health system, nurses shouldbe recognized for the importance of policy involvement. Nurse participation in policyformulation will improve the health care system and achieve the sustainable healthdevelopment goals of society.Aim: The aim of the study was to describe nurses’ involvement in policy making.Methods: This is a descriptive literature review. The authors searched and filtered thePubMed and Cinahl databases for eligible articles. As a result, 10 articles were obtained,including 2 mixed studies, 4 quantitative studies, and 4 qualitative studiesResults: The level of nurses' participation in policy-making was mostly at a low level,and the facilitators that affect their participation in policy-making mainly includednurses' initiative, leadership and organization, and nursing education. The main barriersare lack of nursing education, professional identity, limited social resources, and lack ofsupport.Conclusions: At present, The level of nurses' participation in policy-making was mostlyat a low level. This paper summarizes the factors affecting nurses' participation indecision-making from two aspects of promotion and obstacles.Keywords: nurse, policy involvement, health policy
