Abstract:

This examination work describes how the program Mike Urban can be used to make stormwater models and simulations. To perform calculations by using a computer program has been new for me. To understand computer simulations, it's good to have some basic knowledge about stormwater. Therefore, this report starts with some basic concepts related to stormwater calculations.

Most time during this examination work has been spent to learn how to use the program. To learn the program I have used some previous course material, received personal help and studied real examples.

Mike Urban contains many different functions. It is the functions related to stormwater that has been evaluated in this report. To evaluate the program I have used the stormwatersystem of Skeda udde, outside of Linköping, as an example.

Mike Urban is a good program to use to stormwater calculations. The calculation methods are more accurate and flexible than those used for hand calculation. The end of the report includes a discussion of how it was to learn the program. There is also a discussion about the reliability of the simulations that has been performed.
