An Arabic Hebrew Comparative Study of Genesis 1-3
University essay from Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för språk och litteraturer
Abstract: This paper aims to study how much the ancient Hebrew language in Genesis 1-3 statistically concurs with modern Arabic by identifying Hebrew and Arabic cognates (with a limit to verbs, nouns and adjectives) within the text. To see how well those common cognates are used today, the study will investigate how well they are used in two popular Arabic translations, Smith & Van-Dyke and the Book of Life.
