Abstract: The purpose of our study is to map the expectations, managerial preferences and motivation triggers of young nurses and nurse-assistants.The authors of this study compare the results to existing relevant literature in order to gain a deeper understanding of the managerial challenges faced in order to fit the demands of the recruitment, retainment and motivation of healthcare workers. A qualitative approach has been followed by the authors, through the conduction of interviews with employees originated from the younger generation, with the purpose of comprehending their perspective on management and perceiving what motivates them to choose a career in healthcare. The empirical data is gathered from semi-structured interviews with workers of different paramedical professions in healthcare. The empirical data enables the authors to map the expectations, preferences and motivations among workers in healthcare. This allows to analyze these factors through existing motivation and management theory, aiming to identity problems and make suggestions of change in the current management.
